Brewer condemns report to UN mentioning Ariz. law

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer demanded Friday that a reference to the state's controversial immigration law be removed from a State Department report to the United Nations' human rights commissioner.

The U.S. included its legal challenge to the law on a list of ways the federal government is protecting human rights.

In a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Brewer says it is "downright offensive" that a state law would be included in the report, which was drafted as part of a UN review of human rights in all member nations every four years.

"The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a state of the United States to 'review' by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional," Brewer wrote.

There were actually people denying that this was included in the report. Thank goodness someone read it. This was sent to Drudge, Hannity, Limbaugh and others LAST WEEK.

Bam-bam’s administration didn’t argue in the suit against AZ that the law was racist or a human rights violation, because they know that SCOTUS would never agree with that assessment. They argued that ONLY the feds can participate in the enforcement of federal laws. If that principle was truly followed then we’d need feds all over the place, because local LE wouldn’t be able to help investigate murder or other federal crimes.

This administration talks out both sides of its rear end. Stinks to high heaven.

Since many UN nations are of enemy states then this “report” is nothing short of treason and these enemy states will use it as propaganda value against us.

It is unreal that the State Department would be against it’s own States.

The Obama administration is unquestionably the most anti-American political body in American history. Obama is a traitor.

Let’s see what ‘The Maverick Moderate’ does with this one to defend his home state. Let’s hope he does the right thing and stands with Gov. Brewer for Az.!

"It is unreal that the State Department would be against it’s own States."

After the President and Attorney General already filed a lawsuit against one of our sovereign states, nothing surprises me. What I find interesting is that there are 19 additional states who have already passed a similar law (or have one under consideration), some of which have even more strict wording than Arizona's law. Why have those states been ignored? What is the problem with Arizona, specifically? Perhaps merely that Arizona refuses to look the other way while the state's citizens are murdered and kidnapped?

The President and Sec. of State are clearly saying they have no faith in our own rule of law. Given the offices they hold and the oath they’ve both taken to preserve and defend our rule of law this is pretty clearly an act of sedition.

I have been strongly in favor of Arizona’s efforts to maintain their independence, having spent a number of my youthand service years there. After the election of McCain I have lost empathy with the people in Arizona who apparently believe McCain is good for the USA and Arizona.

This being a state law issue, McCain has no control and no say about it. His failure to stand up to the Obama Administration about illegal immigration is a problem, and his “leadership” (sic) in 2007 when the RINOs tried to shove the Amnesty program down our throats cost them the 2008 election because millions of GOP voters sat it out. Blame McCain for that, but not for the Arizona state problem.

Brewer blasts Obama over submission to UN specifying AZ immigration law

http://hotair.com/archives/2010/08/28/brewer-blasts-obama-over-submission-to-un-specifying-az-immigration-law/

The Obama administration has opposed the Arizona bill, but not even Eric Holder could make a legal case that it violated human rights.

Instead, the DoJ attacked it on federal supremacy in immigration affairs, essentially a technicality, by claiming that Arizona had tried to pre-empt federal immigration-control efforts.

If the Obama administration really believed that this is a human-rights “concern,” then why didn’t they bother to make that claim in federal court?

Instead, Obama and Clinton just decided to use it as a cheap moral-relativist point in their new version of an apology tour.

The entire submission should be withdrawn, and the Obama administration should apologize to the people of Arizona for the insult.

One thing about it, Obama and company are illustrating that they do not support the US or its laws.

When I saw the story on the UN report, I thought to myself, well Obama doesn’t know that a female running for office is someone you shouldn’t mess with. (Jan Brewer is more conservative during election season than she normally would be so she will use this to her advantage.)
