Republican Susana Martinez earns her highest support yet against Democrat Diane Denish in the race to be New Mexico’s next governor.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Martinez picking up 48% support, while Denish, the state's current lieutenant governor, earns 43% of the vote. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

The two women were tied in the past two surveys conducted in May and June after Denish led Martinez, a county district attorney, by 19 points in the first Rasmussen Reports survey of the race in late March.

It’s nice that so many Governor races are going well, but we need to make sure that we get teh Secretary of State offices too. That’s the person responsible for catching vote fraud in 2012 when the Dems, SEIU, and ACORN are going to go all out, and we need both offices to preserve the level of election integrity that we have.

This is very good news, and it’s Susana Martinez’s strongest showing to date. Things are moving in one direction and we all know what that direction is.

Are the people of New Mexico tired of the corruption of the Richardson Admin?

I dont see how electing Diane Dennish is going to change that.

I hope a lot of independants pull the lever for Susanna!

I heard Martinez on the radio saying we need “immigration reform”.

Is she for amnesty?

New Mexico hasn’t elected a Republican Secretary of State since 1928 (and that is NOT a typo).

I moved here 20 months ago, but I know richardson and anyone connected with him is crap.

I'll be voting for Martinez and Pearce.

Fortunately, the SOS is presently under investigation for a number of things and has made a mess of the office’s finances so she’s likely too busy to devote her time to helping Denish out.

Good news for Texas’ next door neighbor. Very good news. I just hope she’s not related to Rick Perry.
