Its been said before, and it will probably be said again: Ron Paul is not your typical Republican politician. Appearing on AC 360 last night, fill-in host Sanjay Gupta sought comment from the former Presidential candidate on the controversy surrounding what many are calling the Ground Zero Mosque. Paul made clear his frustration in blaming the whole of Islam with the acts of a small radical sect, and compared to the bombing of the Murrow building in Oklahoma City by Timothy McVeigh.
-snip-
"Al Qaeda was responsible. Several hundred al Qaeda existed at that time. Maybe there are still several hundred more. That doesnt mean the whole Muslim religion should be indicted. That was my complaint. McVeigh probably was a Christian, and he bombed the Oklahoma Federal building. Does that mean a Christian church cant be built near there, and Christianity is to blame? I dont like that broad brush. That doesnt mean we should destroy the whole concept of the Muslim religion, if they can bring this out, whether the Mosque is stopped or not, the implication here is that Islam caused 9/11, not a narrow branch of the al Qaeda. To me, that is crucial, because it deals with our foreign policy, it deals with even in that clip earlier on, Madeleine Albright admitted, she said, well, 500,000 people are killed so be it. If thats what it takes. So is the Muslim have justification for their worries and concerns. "

Oh good grief.
McVeigh did not do what he did in the name of Christianity. Paul is as ignorant as they come on the issue of Islam.
Islamic terrorism is done by people following the tenants of their faith, the same cannot be said of terrorism by Christians.
More straw men than the Wizard of Oz ..
Did McVeigh blow up the building in Jesus’s name? I never heard about that.
The only people that I can think of as being dumber than Ron Paul are those that vote for him.
It would be a Ground Zero Victory Mosque for all the muslim world.
McVeigh was certainly not a Christian.
But we’re still waiting to hear mainstream Muslims denounce the radicals. So far, nothing but the sound of crickets. Remember, they literally danced in the streets in Palestine on 9/11.
Paul has nothing to back that statement up other than his own imagination.
I would also point out that McVeigh - contrary to this popular and emerging leftist meme - was a DEVOUT AGNOSTIC. He can't be described - in any way - as a Christian or even a Deist.
Wow!
Where is GoldStandard when you want to pick on him!
Oh yeah...he’s still around under that other name!
No Dr Ron dufas that would be You, Janet Reno and the Rapist Clinton,Remember a place called Waco????
Who do we blame for Ron Paul being a retard?
So, Ron, your argument is specious and complete bullshit.
Did McVeigh claim to be a Christian?
No?
If they decide to build an Aryan Nation Community Outreach Center across the street from the Murrah Building, we’ll have a parallel case. Especially if they hold a big inaugural on the anniversary of McVeigh’s deed.
Should we blame OK City on atheism?
“McVeigh did not do what he did in the name of Christianity. Paul is as ignorant as they come on the issue of Islam.”
I would be willing to not blame a whole religion for nine eleven if I heard any Muslims denouncing Islamic terrorist organizations.
Didn’t Mr. Paul leave the water running at his house?
