Whitman softens stance on U.S. health care law
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 8/23/10 | Bob Egelko

If elected governor, Republican Meg Whitman plans to add California to the list of states suing to overturn the new federal health care law. Or maybe she won't. The most recent statements by Whitman's campaign are much more equivocal than the position she took in March, during the Republican primary. When supporters at a campaign event asked her whether she would "force (her) attorney general" to join the health care suit, she said yes. Questioned by reporters later that day, Whitman acknowledged that a governor couldn't order the independently elected attorney general to sue, but said she would "strongly encourage" a suit.

That isn’t a softening...this is San Francisco bull crap reporting. She is saying she would follow the law—and it is clear she DISAGREES with HusseinCare.

Look, Meg ain’t perfect, but she’d be better than that absolute MORON Jerry Brown.

Nice trap by the journalist. If she says she will order him, even though she doesn’t have the authority to do so, she’s a fascist who is circumventing law for her own ends. If she does lighten her tone, and admits that she can only use “the bully pulpit”, she’s a “flip-flopper”. As a Republican, she should be aware of this kind of reporting already.

Most republican members in congress support the health care bill, that includes those in the US senate.

If this were not so they would have made them read the bill on the senate floor. But by not requiring them to read the bill there was less for us to fight against.
