No, contrary to the big lie, the GOP was NOT a 3rd party. It merely took over the existing machinery of the defunct Whig party.
Time the siren song of the “3rd party” be put to rest. The historic data doesn't magically change just because it conflicts with the emotion based dogma and bubble world view of the perpetually whining choir.
There would have been a time I would have said you are wrong, but it just took the GOP a few years to actually fail. For an advocate of the GOP you should really read up on the history of the party you support.
Ironically you might find there was another time in our Nation's history when "conservatives" were deeply disgruntled and formed a new coalition...they succeeded in Congress in less than a decade.
It is critical to understand the breadth of corruption that exists. One doesn't cut away the rotted core and eat the apple.
All our attempts at redress either to the government or our own party are ignored. I do support getting conservatives back into the party leadership, but I hold no allusions about some Grand Old (third)Party that took a hundred years to fail.
You, are right. A third party can’t win because the American people won’t consider voting for a third party in sufficient numbers to produce 270 electoral votes. Never have, never will. The people lack the imagination to do so.
“Every single 3rd party in US History has completely failed to achieve any of it’s goals.”
Uhh, the Republican Party was a third party that replaced the Whigs.
And your history would be wrong. Both of the current parties, Democrats and Whigs, were third parties at some point.
When the Whigs found themselves on the wrong side of the slavery argument, they were destroyed. If the GOP is on the wrong side of the abortion argument, they’ll be destroyed too.
We need a party that just as they were opposed to slavery, is apoosed to abortion. If that party is not the GOP, they will fade and die away. There’s already a pro abortion party, it’s called the Democrats. We don’t need another.
