Ben Stein: Have Gun, Will Travel (Great speech on 4th webpage, Sestak offered Secy of Navy job)
American Spectator ^ | July 2010 - August 2010 | Ben Stein

Posted on 08/16/2010 8:12:30 PM PDT by neverdem

Wow. Something is definitely wrong. I awakened feeling desperately tired. Just wiped out. Like I was at the bottom of a well of exhaustion. Nevertheless, I threw myself out of bed and went swimming in my fabulous pool. Then I checked to see if I had any money left after the recent stock market downward volatility. I did, and so I had breakfast and got dressed.

A huge crew arrived to take photos of me for a magazine feature on "Ben Stein's Los Angeles." The main photographer, Michael Grecco, is a famously talented and pleasant, easy to work with guy. We took a lot of photos, then we (wifey and makeup girl Lisa and I) zoomed over to CNN to talk about the Gulf oil spill and about Rep. Sestak being offered a job to not run against that creep Arlen Specter. I said that Obama had so many foreign policy disasters that he really should not be bothered about the Sestak thing, which is just business as usual politics. As to the Gulf oil catastrophe, better to stop pointing fingers and concentrate on gettingt...

--snip--

At about 3:30 I heard a loud pounding on my bedroom door. Usually this is my son come to talk to me when he can't sleep. But it was not my son. And wifey, who had moved back to her room down the hall, had heard the knocking, too.

I took out my gun (when I hear the word prowler, I reach for my revolver) and walked around our home. No sign of a criminal but alas, the back door was unlocked. I called the cops. They were there in a moment. A white man and a black man. Both with Glocks.

(I used to have a really nice Glock but someone stole it.)...

This is how Joel Stein would write if he were a grown-up.

I did not realize what a good writer Ben Stein is. He is also a good man. More importantly he is a good man doing good things.

According to Ben Stein, Sestak was offered the job of Secretary of the Navy if he didn't challenge Arlen Specter in the rat primary.

Thank you, Ben Stein. Well said. Every day I hear people question why we fight in Iraq and A. We fight for freedom and human dignity. We don’t ask for much.
There are those who try their best to burn down the Shinning City on the Hill. But the truth is far different. We don’t fight for empire or oil, but freedom.

The best TV program ever.

With the best theme song ever. Better than Bonanza. Ever try to sing Bonanza?

After going to youtube and watching the video, a question entered my mind (was Richard Boone gay) so I went to wiki to see what I could find out. Most of the article convinced me that he wasn’t, and I learned that he was a descendant of Daniel Boone’s younger brother, and cousin to Pat Boone. Seems that Richard had three wives, and one child. He also fought in WWII. But at the end of the article, I started to wonder about it again, because of something Maureen O’Hara said about Richard and Peter Lawford and a gay brothel in Australia. Overall, he led a hell of a life, it sounds like.

Having a majority in the House? IIRC, you can't do much in the House without a majority of votes other than make noise.

But a little noise...When properly applied does wonders for the majority of rashes in that place as far as I am concerned...

Be nice to hear a little noise from time to time...It means we still have some folks there that are not concerned about being a politician, but more concerned about this country than themselves...

I don’t think that exists anymore up there though, unfortunately...

>>He is also a good man.

He tarnished that considerably for me with his support for Franken. And really, Ralph Nader!?

Some select items from his FEC database. In fairness, there were also a lot of Republican contributions.

In addition, Stein has supported Obama on various policy issues:

Stein: Obama Is So Right on Bank Reform

While I’m sure we’ve needed “Bank Reform”, what we needed certainly isn’t what we got from the Dems. Any Financial Reform that didn’t include Fannie and Freddie, the evil twins, is simply a joke.
