Mosque Developer Open To Paterson Proposal (Not Really)
New York 1 ^ | 8/11/10 | Staff Writer

The developer of the controversial mosque in Lower Manhattan says he is open to Governor David Paterson's offer to help find another site for the project.

Paterson is volunteering another site on state owned property for the Islamic Center

H says there needs to be greater dialogue to try and soothe everyone's fears.

"While we ahve a tremendous amount of respect for our governor, and we are always interested in hearing what our leaders have to say, and what their ideas and proposals are. But this has always been about serving Lower Manhattan," said proposed mosque developer Sharif El-Gamal.

One prominent mosque supporter also rejected the governor's proposal.

He says Paterson's remarks validate the idea that all Muslims are responsible for what terrorists did on September 11, 2001.

A poorly written article, that contradicts itself. The developer has no interest in moving the proposed Ground Zero mosque, even if the land is free.

Pardon the typos. I had to type the article in, because it would not cut-and-paste.

How about actively dumping bacon bits, pork remains, etc on the site NOW - each and every day and night!

Still waiting for the imam to denounce all terrorism.

I don’t think that would matter. The point of the exersize is not to create a house of worship. The point of the exersize is to stick a finger in the eye of the American People and to do a touchdown dance in the ashes of our dead. It is not like there is a big population of downtown Muslims who don’t have anyplace else to go.

The Governor is making the mistake of assuming that the Imam is telling the truth, ever. The Imam could denounce terrorism tomorrow, and it would mean nothing. You could be certain that the next time he spoke in Arabic, he would be back to all “Our Martyrs” this and “Kill the Infidel” that...

I don't say this often, but I agree with David Frum's analysis.

The two developers including El-Gamal, do not care about "serving the Muslim community" or about making an ideological point about 9/11.

They care about finding wealthy Middle Eastern financiers to help them develop the land they own and the land they lease at a profit.

Their front man, Al-Rauf is indeed an ideologue who does want the mosque sited exactly where it is for propaganda purposes. That's why he is helping them.

Siting it elsewhere, as the Governor proposes, is absolutely pointless for both the interested parties: the developers will be left indebted with terrible properties that are earning no income for them and the imam will lose his platfortm for ideological grandstanding.

The whole point of this exercise was to get in the news and make their effort internationally famous so that when wealthy sheiks saw how angry Americans were about the mosque, those sheiks would write checks for $100mm - and the $4.8mm the developers spent for the property would take them out of their sour investment and net them $10+mm in management and consulting fees.

If they were to veto Mr. Paterson’s suggestion, perhaps my suggestion would suffice... I strongly recommend they build this monument to a cult at the bottom of the Hudson River...

Or, perhaps, it’s another scam. Call it Frum II.

They swap for State land.
And develop their condos.
Taxpayers get screwed.

Wouldn’t you love to be handling the lawsuit on behalf of the developer trying to build his condos on the formerly state-owned land, while the State of New York insists that he must develop a mosque?

Establishment much?!? Talk about a First Amendment slam-dunk!

Rauf was speaking in a live interview with WND senior reporter Aaron Klein, who hosts a show on New York’s WABC Radio.

Klein asked Rauf on his show whether the imam agrees with the State Department’s designation of Hamas as a terrorist organization.

“I’m not a politician,” replied Rauf. “I try to avoid the issues. The issue of terrorism is a very complex question. ... I’m a bridge builder. I define my work as a bridge builder. I do not want to be placed, nor do I accept to be placed in a position of being put in a position where I am the target of one side or another.”

The Islamic supremacists have a bigger construction plan going these days:

How about a dog adoption center and KC Masterpiece chain right next door? (in the name of ‘tolerance’ of course )

Better yet, an East Coast Church of Satan, a Jewish temple, a Scientology center, and an all you can eat smoked rib haus.

Putting gay bars or pig farms next door would suit their purposes just fine. They know the infidels are unclean sub-humans. These establishments would only reinforce their prejudices.
