The AFL-CIO plans to spend more than $50 million over the next 90 days to help Democrats in congressional and gubernatorial races in 20-23 states. Its top target states are California, Illinois, Nevada, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Trumka's comments kicked off a three-day training session for AFL-CIO state political directors and staffers who will coordinate the federation's massive get-out-the-vote effort leading up to the Nov. 2 elections. Obama will address the federation's executive council on Wednesday.

In putting America on wheels, Henry Ford kept lowering the price of his cars while increasing the wages of those who built them WITHOUT A UNION.

"Richard Trumka, a crook and thug and should be in a federal slammer."Trumka is carrying on a long-standing AFL/CIO tradition...rigging elections for other power-hungry thugs such as himself.

That’s right union members! Work hard to get out the vote! Support your union’s decision to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and make work even harder for you to find!

A Vulnerable Trumka Can Be Defeated;
Find a Smart Candidate with Courage
by Harry Kelber
Labor's Voice for Change (60) August 11, 2009
...As the AFL-CIO's chief financial officer, Secretary-Treasurer Richard Trumka allowed the Federation's net assets to shrink from $66 million on July 1, 2000 to a negative of $2.3 million by June 30, 2008. Furthermore, the AFL-CIO's liabilities, as of June 30, 2008, was more than $90.7 million, and that was before the multimillions it spent during the 2008 election campaign... increased his yearly salary by nearly $74,000 -- from $165,000 to $238,975 -- in the last four years. That amounts to a 44 percent salary increase. In addition, Trumka will also get an AFL-CIO pension equal to 60 percent of his top pay. What did Trumka do to deserve that extra $74,000? Why did he keep it secret? Like a corporate CEO, he apparently had no qualms about pocketing all that money, while the AFL-CIO was facing a financial crisis, and millions of workers were losing their jobs and their homes...
Thanks george76.

The unions have huge amounts of cash extracted from their members. For example, each teacher and school district employee here in CA has to pony up about $1000 per year to the union. Most of this is spent on political campaigns.
Do not kid yourself. Money is all important to reach the swing voters who don't pay any attention to anything other than TV ads. If we conservatives want to stay in the game, we have to loosen up our wallets. I suggest contributing directly to individual candidates and bypassing the worthless Republican Party.
I am focusing on winnable House seats. If the republicans can take the House, they can start investigating the Obama crooks and withholding money from Obamacare etc.
I do not think it is possible to take the senate but we might be able to get in enough conservatives to cancel the power of the RINOs like Scott Brown and the weak sisters from Maine.

I never got a 44 percent raise when I was working and covered by an AFL-CIO contract. I remember one three-year period where they froze our wages. My retirement check is frozen for the next two years because the Social Security COLA is frozen.
