Morning John,
I’m just hoping another Mark Foley b.s. type thing doesn’t surface for the pubbies. That would seem to blunt any opportunity.

It has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with both Rangel and Waters being from ‘safe’ racially-gerrymandered districts - so they feel they can get away with anything and still get re-elected.

These came up too early. I wish they would have been found in October. However if we can keep this in the news for four months that would be great. The Republicans in 2008 were in “trouble” in mid-September and October which helped the Democrats. Of course we could always have more Dems in trouble in October which would be great.

Prediction: the 'Rats will trot out a campaign theme of "We're cleaning up Congress" and push the idea that they will go after ANYbody, Democrat or Republican that "abuses the public trust", citing Rangel and Waters as examples of that.

Look for them to show some old footage of Tom DeLay, Mark Foley, etc., and then show Rangel and Waters being brought up on ethics charges. "We're cleaning up our House" the ad will scream, "When will Republicans clean up THEIRS?"

Never mind that DeLay and Foley aren't even in the Congress, the electorate has a short memory and all they'll recognize is that Rangel and Waters were "caught" by their own and "held accountable".

It's just like Al Capone calling for 'clean government' in old Chicago.

The deal was cut.

The ethics Comittee offered to let him off with a reprimand, and he was too stupid to take the deal.

Ethical?

Only ethical?

Try competency, honesty, ability to govern, and previous experience in anything that produced value.

These losers fit so well with our Community Organizer president.

All ego, no schwienstucker.

People in sufficient numbers have learned the “black” thing ain’t going so well—Obama.

Rangel and Waters are a reminder, without further discussion being necessary.

This aspect, together with the bad economy, heaalth care, immigration where significant, point towards the opposing party.

Thus far the GOP has been fairly low key—why say much when the opponent is falling down on his own?

Prediction: narrow majority for GOP in the House, but not the Senate.

The GOP might have effective control on issues.

Obviously the ethical standards in Washington are racist.

White tax cheat and human-elf mongrel Geitner gets away with it and still heads up the Dept of Non-Recovery and Deficit Spending, while Carribean Charlie gets raked over the coals for his 20-year lapse of memory to pay taxes on his rental condos.

It’s really unfair.

JH2, I know the conventional wisdom, that this means bad things for the RATS come November. I don't see it changes anything.

The 1994 GOP resurgence was, to some degree (IMO) because of the Contract. I think it also had to do with ethics. As I look back I remember Rostenkowski, the Post Office, and the House Bank. That had, I think, a real influence on the mindset of voters.

I wouldn't have dreamed BJ could survive Lewinsky. At one point after the scandal hit he had 65% approval rating.

My appraisal of the electorate mindset is more heavily influenced by 1998 than 1994.

Instead of being "just about sex," it will be "all about racism." The revolution, Comrade, will be reported by the journolists of the MSM.
