Coroner's Inquest Delayed for Costco Shooting Victim (Cops Interfering wih Investigation)
13 ACTION NEWS ^ | 7-28-10 | 13 action news

It's going to take longer to find out exactly what happened during that fatal police shooting at the Summerlin Costco earlier this month.

The inquest was scheduled for September third.

But now the Clark County District Attorney's office has requested that the coroner's inquest be postponed indefinitely.

the inquest would have determined if three officers were justified in the use of deadly force against Erik Scott on July 10th.

Clark County District Attorney David Roger says his office asked for the delay partly because they have not yet received witness statements and reports from metro police.

Roger also says there may be hundreds of witnesses to sift through because the shooting happened on a busy Saturday afternoon.

This request comes on the heels of public outrage that questions the transparency of this investigation.

Metro has not released the 911 tapes.

Police are also saying... There may have been a glitch in the store's surveillance system the day of the fatal shooting and the cameras may have not recorded the ordeal.

Those hard drives have been sent out of state for forensic analysis.

Surprise surprise, the old video "glitch" story.

Had the same thing happen when I was arrested for a DUI. Fortunately, the officer couldn't keep his story straight under oath and they had to reduce the charges.

'Police are also saying... There may have been a glitch in the store's surveillance system the day of the fatal shooting and the cameras may have not recorded the ordeal."

Of course.

Hopefully, this man's family has secured the services of the meanest, nastiest blood-sucking tort attorney that they can find.

I would also be raising holy-heck with the local FBI field office DEMANDING that they launch a criminal civil rights investigation.

"Hey, we had the same problem. Honestly." FBI.

"Four cameras in four different locations going blank at basically the same time on the morning of April 19, 1995. There ain't no such thing as a coincidence," Trentadue [the man whose FOIA and court appeals forced the surveillance tapes of the OKC bombing almost 15 years after the bombing] said.

Just some more rare, isolated examples of the 99% giving the 1% a bad name.

I keep expecting some of the honest cops in that department will silently put things in motion to get the truth out. I have never known a cop who could keep a secret and I mean that in the most complimentary way. A damn good tort lawyer does seem like the only way now. Here is one that was pretty darn good in his day. Name Him and the television show this pic is from and you will win something.

Unfortunately that would be the mob lawyer that's mayor of Las Vegas and he's busy.

Man, I thought it would be a bit tougher than that. If you want to go double or nothing name the episode, or just go to Costco customer service to claim your prize. If they act like you are nuts, don't put up a stink.

Have sharpton and jackson weighed in on this? Let me guess; since race wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the story, the person shot was white.

Not in Las Vegas. You should talk to people who live or have lived there. Freepers have been telling stories. The last time a cop was found to be in the wrong was 1976.

Oh that doesn't surprise me one bit. BULLSHIT. Now it's a cover up.

You both deserve the prize. Get on down to the Costco, load up with your favorite 144 pack of hot pockets or the equivalent. They will know you are the winner by the use of the prize verification code words. “Slap Leather John Law”

That could be a sign of extraordinarily good police work. Probably not the way to bet.
