Grad missile lands in Ashkelon

Several people treated for shock; damaged caused to buildings, cars.

A Grad missile launched from the Gaza Strip landed in a central, residential area in the southern city of Ashkelon Friday morning.

Magen David Adom crews treated two people for shock.

The missile shattered numerous windows of the surrounding, multi-story buildings and vehicles in the area.

Ashkelon Mayor Benny Vaknin who arrived at the scene, said that the missile landed in the heart of a residential neighborhood and that Ashkelon citizens are unfortunately accustomed to such situations.

Vaknin emphasized that many educational institutions, schools and day-care centers in Ashkelon remain unprotected from rocket attacks and called on the defense ministers to continue efforts to reinforce vulnerable areas.

"I do not see how it will be possible for us to begin the school year with schools and day-cares left unprotected when a heavy cloud of lethal rocket and missile fire hovers above us," Vaknin said.

A committee of Ashkelon parents threatened not to send their children to school at the beginning of the year if their school buildings would not be fortified, Israel Radio reported Friday.

The "color red" alert system was heard across the city prior to the rocket landing allowing residents to enter protected areas.

Police were urging residents to remain indoors for fear of additional rockets or missiles.

In a closed meeting Friday morning, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced that Israel views the Grad missile attack in Ashkelon with harsh severity.

The Aza Din al-Kassem Gazan terror group claimed responsibility for the attack.

A missile lands in a major Israeli city. But for luck, a few yards to the left or right and who knows how many casualties.

But is it news? Has it been reported on the networks or cable news? See it on Google News or the Times frontpage?

But if Israel acts to prevent further attacks- that will be news- and this will be minimized.

I once figured up how much it would cost to asphalt the entire Gaza Strip. It was surprisingly cheap.

Israel needs to blow up their new supermarket in retaliation.

And, I don’t know, stop giving them free electricity.

The palis should loose a square mile of land for every attack. If they eventually are pushed into the sea, oh well.

Hahahahahaha! Oh, those fun-loving Pali’s!!! Just like them to generously send the Israeli town a free rocket. So neighborly. How civilized of them to try to kill innocent people who are just going about their lives. Maybe, if they are lucky they coould blow a few school children into bloddy shreds. Oh, those fun-loving Pali’s!

And in any case the American Left, including it’s pathologically insane Jewish wing, will continue to tout Hamas as “legitimate.”

Well, ya gotta take your hat off to the KGB of yesteryear. They originally invented the “Palestinian cause” and they originally invented the American Left. Talk about bite for your comintern buck—!!

Pretty clever of the Pali’s to transform “humanitarian” goods into viable short range rockets!

“The palis should loose a square mile of land for every attack. If they eventually are pushed into the sea, oh well.”

That’s an excellent idea. Just take the eastern border and move it west 100 hundred feet for every rocket that comes over. As they see that border coming closer and closer the more rockets they launch. Shouldn’t take much time at all. Make sure you open up the western border so the Palis can flee to Egypt and give the Egyptian government all the headaches with dealing with them.

It would only have made the liberal news if it hit Kerry’s yacht.

I propose that Israel publicly announce that the launch site of any missle from Gaza will immediately be hit with a 500 lb smart bomb. Technologically that is not difficult. With an AWACs in the sky loitering above GAZA and a bomber. Retaliation could be almost instant. If they launch a missile from a residential area, “life is a bitch and then you die.”

Or they have a Predator drone equivalent armed with Hellfires that will launch them while the Palis are in the process of setting up the launch system and putting the rockets an the launch rail.

"But is it news? Has it been reported on the networks or cable news? See it on Google News or the Times frontpage? "

Reminds me of a joke. Saddam Hussein complains to Yasser Arafat: "You hijack plains, throw grenades at school children --- and they give you a Nobel Peace Prize. I do none of such things and I am a villain. Why?"

"Ah," says Sadat, "but I kill only Jews."

Can you imagine one such rocket landing somewhere in Texas or southern Italy? I doubt that would happen more than once. But these attack are against the Jews and Israel --- who cares? In fact, everyone and his dog will ask Israel "to show restraint."

Unfortunately, all that will likely happen in response is a couple empty buildings will get bombed. Cmon’ Bibi, man up.

It lands? IT LANDS? It didn’t freaking land, it freaking DETONATED in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Typical soft-soaping of the leftist mainstream apparatchiks.
