Gibbs Takes on Rush Limbaugh
WSJ ^ | July 29, 2010 | Elizabeth Williamson

At a briefing today to discuss the administration’s efforts to rescue the auto industry, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs took on conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh—and every other critic “sitting in the cheap seats” –for criticizing the rescue of General Motors and Chrysler as a “government takeover” that smacks of socialism.

Told by a reporter that “You had Rush Limbaugh today — today or yesterday — talking Obama Motors again,” Gibbs, who doesn’t often provide free advertising by taking on his critics by name from the podium, let fire.

“Look, Rush Limbaugh and others wanted to walk away. Rush Limbaugh and others saw a million people that worked at these factories, that worked at these parts suppliers, that had — that supported communities, and thought we should all just walk away. The president didn’t think that walking away from a million jobs in these communities made a lot of economic sense,” Gibbs said.

He was just getting up to speed.

“We’ve got auto companies that for the first time since 2004 all showed an operating profit in the first quarter of this year. It’s adding jobs. And the money that this administration invested — about $60 billion — we believe we’re on the path to recouping all of that. That’s a significant story.

Gibbs is trying to marginalize his opposition. But opposition to Obama is so widespread, this could backfire.
It could broaden Limbaugh’s audience.

Believe me the GOP is fully capable of blowing it for the mid-terms. The T Party and Rush have been pulling out the stops for two years to try and stop Obama. What is the GOP doing to follow up? I sure do not see it. Where the hell are they? They are not attacking. They are giving the enemy time to re-group. Pathetic.

"we believe we’re on the path to recouping all of that".

YOU LIE Gibbs....Biden just said your (we) are going to lose $24 billion......and just like the Fanny and Freddie scam, your administration is not doing a thing to correct what caused the problem in the first place

For the last time, Ford didn’t receive any bailout monies, Gibbs, you asshat!

This is unconscionable. How many administrations in the past publicly confronted a private citizen for his views? This government makes me sick. *spit*

I love it when the regime talks about Rush.
I get my Rush 24/7...great service, especially when overseas.

Oh please... he's been doing this since inauguration day. Black is white, day is night... we've always been at war with EastAsia.

I think Gibbs is just doing his job. The Democratic party has already announced that they want to make these midterm elections a referendum on Republicans/George Bush/Rush Limbagh and etc. rather than on Obama Pelosi and Reid.

So it was clearly Gibbs’ plan to start a fight with Limbaugh.

The objectionable thing here is that the “reporter” who asked Gibbs about Limbaugh got the Democratic Party memo and acted on it. Limbaugh is on the air every day. Why suddenly start asking the White house to respond to him??

Clearly this so-called “reporter” is a journolist rather than a journalist.

The UAW is a parasite that had killed off its hosts.

The only entity left with enough cash to satisfy their top-heavy worker/retiree scheme was Uncle Sam.

Obama was only too happy to underwrite their untenable benefits package.

Absolutely infuriating isn’t it? I have been hoping for decades that this bunch, the GOP of both houses, grows a damn spine. The Tea Party folks (us), can’t do all the heavy lifting all the time! The GOP is too busy getting their panties in a wad over the latest Michael Steele controversy than they are fighting Crime Inc. (Obummer, Pelousy & Reid)

PLEASE...Get With It GOP!

I heard the same number on the radio this morning. The administration is claiming that Obama saved a million jobs here. That's total BS.

You have the factories. You have the workforce. You have the suppliers lined up, the outlets lined up, and the customer base lined up. It wasn't going to come to a complete and permanent stop overnight. If GM had gone bankrupt, Honda or Toyota, or Ford, somebody would have come in and started up again in very short order using the people and infrastructure that GM had left behind.

Good points, and I do not see the GOP following up or going after Obama.

And, sending back John McCain, and not defeating Harry Reid....looks like the same Liberal nonsense from the GOP.

Until people are comiitted to removing liberals from the GOP....conbservatives will always struggle against Liberalism

But screwing the stockholders, the bondholders, the executives, the suppliers and the dealers was perfectly okay in the president's mind, I guess.

The Zombie Administration is the gang that can’t shoot straight.

So much wrong in the country and the world and they snipe at the peripheral target.

The Zombie Admin poll numbers reflect it’s still walking but actually dead.
