Arizona's tourism industry has a target on its back, but the widespread boycotts over the state's immigration law might not be hitting the mark.
Recent data compiled by a market research group show hotel bookings across the state -- as well as in tourism hot spots Phoenix and Scottsdale -- have been on the rise the past two months.
The numbers could dispel warnings from local officials that Arizona stands to lose a fortune and dampen the chances that cities and organizations will be able to compel the state to reverse its immigration law by choking its economy with a sanctions-style business boycott.
"Fundamentally, the boycotts have been unsuccessful," said Barry Broome, president of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

Why wouldn’t people want to visit the now safest state bordering Mexico?
Fewer illegals mean fewer illegal crimes against visitors.
Must be the Aeizona Buy - Cott having results.
Imagine that!
The technical term is “boycott backlash”
It’s ludicrous to classify it as a boycott when revenue increased 11% compared to the same time last year.
Actually, this talk of boycott brought AZ to the front of my mind, where my family and I actually hadn’t even thought about it before.
So we will be visiting the Grand Canyon and Sedona with the kids this autumn!
If I owned a hotel I wouldn’t want just anyone staying there anyway. They probably won’t have so many towels stolen.
And Arizona will be even more popular once the summer heat passes. Arizona should be applauded for trying to enforce immigration law.
I’m probably going to Hawaii in Nov.-Dec timeframe. Would ordninarily stop over in SF to break up plane ride. I’m check out cost if I stop over in an Arizona city instead.
And if I had the time I’d fly over Juan’s house in a an open cockpit plane and drop a pile of dog poop on it.
Gotta love the CBS view on Arizona tourism:

Excellent news. All the talk has got people considering Arizona. I know I have when making some purchases.
I don't care what the economic situation is, this is still the greatest country on the planet.
