Not curious. Just wise and rational, like Americans who are aware of the importance of their territories and borders and property to be lost if not recognized by the govt. and PROTECTED.
Nothing new. Nixon, during his presidency, supposedly was asked by the soviets to team up the US with them in a pre-emptive attack on China, and the soviets already had deployed forward nuclear forces and were ready to go.
