Anyone who isn’t part of the Ruling Class is always going to be mocked and denigrated. America is churning and the next upheaval will result in a legitimate “smackdown” of our overlords.

I remember reading Dr. Sowell describing that there was celebration in the Carter Whitehouse when Ronald Reagan was nominated.

History doesn’t necessarily repeats itself but it sure does rhyme!

True. But in Reagan's "American Life" (I think) he recounts actually having a few drinks with Tip Oneil and of a mutual respect, and mutual love of country.

The sob's in Congress and the WH now loathe Palin and hate Americans who respect her.

60 million idiots felt the same way in 2008.

Maybe history rhymes, but it's out of tune this time.

Reagan was THE classic rock, Palin is an 80s tribute band, and the Dems play moronic gangsta rap.

Now elections have become an MTV awards show, and the morons have the mike.

Will a conservative ever be voted into the White House again? It may no longer be possible.

One thing thinking about President Reagan and his inauguration speech is how the elitists don’t help, they hinder us. What needs to be done is get word out that elitists need not apply for important positions in the government but instead, ordinary people should be put in charge.

The One is ivy league educated but he doesn’t know WTF he is doing ! The Clinton’s were Yale educated. We need to get people who are outside the Eastern Establishment to be put in charge. These Easterners need to be removed. Thy have done us no good over the years and time for something new and different.

Way back when, the democrats were always cordial to republicans, they owned the house for 40 years and had no fear of ever losing it....they have that fear now and the truth about democrats is coming out for even the stupid to see...

Reagan got much of what he wanted because the democrats feared his popularity with the average citizen...Lets face it, in one election he lost only 1 state in the electoral college..(If my old memory serves me correctly).thats the fear of the democrats. Anyone else in power...

please correct me if I am wrong on Reagans election. don't remember if it was the first or second term...

Senator Dole was know as the tax collector for the democrats...another neutered republican man...no wonder he became the spokesman for some erectile dyfuntion medication after he left politics...

You might be right. But, when things really hit the fan, a conservative might be welcomed.

And he was very lucky that in 1980 there were 35 days between IA and NH. It was enough time for him to recover from his crushing loss in IA and for Bush to fall apart.

If things were like they were in 2008 with only 4 days between IA and NH or even 2000 with only 7 days between IA and NH, Reagan likely would have been finished. He was well behind in NH(10-20 pts) for a few weeks after IA and only started his comeback in the last 10-14 days or so.

Yes I do. I also remember President Reagan saying they were on their way home right after he was sworn in.

I read “Rendezvous with Destiny”. The South was solid Carter and didn’t swing to Reagan until Carter started running Reagan is a racist type ads and had black surrogates like Andrew Young denounce Reagan as such. This tactic has a reverse effect for Carter and destroyed his nice guy image. The media was calling him things like “mean”. Carter lost the south and the independent voters everywhere on that stupid strategy.

Thirty years ago in April, Jimmy Carter was famously "attacked" by a swamp rabbit while fishing in Georgia. Although the bizarre incident created a huge media stir, when we looked back, we didn't find any Whispers coverage of the rabbit incident.

US News: thirty years of not covering anything that would embarass a Democrat.

Thanks, but it’s not a fanatstic memory. I just finished reading this book “Rendezvous With Destiny” all about the 1980 campaign. Highly reccommended if you get the chance.

The extra time between IA and NH really helped Reagan. He wouldn’t have had enough time to catch up if they had the quicker schedules they’ve had recently. That and the debate in Nashua were the two main things that turned the tide.
