Berwick: Bigger Than Kagan
Wall Street Journal ^ | 7/15/10 | Daniel Henninger

Posted on 07/15/2010 7:47:43 PM PDT by starczar66

...These excerpts are from past speeches and articles by Dr. Berwick:

"I cannot believe that the individual health care consumer can enforce through choice the proper configurations of a system as massive and complex as health care. That is for leaders to do."

"You cap your health care budget, and you make the political and economic choices you need to make to keep affordability within reach."

"Please don't put your faith in market forces. It's a popular idea: that Adam Smith's invisible hand would do a better job of designing care than leaders with plans can."

"Indeed, the Holy Grail of universal coverage in the United States may remain out of reach unless, through rational collective action overriding some individual self-interest, we can reduce per capita costs."

"It may therefore be necessary to set a legislative target for the growth of spending at 1.5 percentage points below currently projected increases and to grant the federal government the authority to reduce updates in Medicare fees if the target is exceeded."

"About 8% of GDP is plenty for 'best known' care."

"A progressive policy regime will control and rationalize financing—control supply."...

Required reading; the enemy is past the gates, into the halls of government. Gloves off?

Geez... Can’t we all just agree that there are Liberals and Conservatives and the agreements are NOT going to happen. How about we just become objective about our decisions...or just quit agreeing with stupid decisions (without support in the Constitution)....

The worst part about the “recess” appointment is that the GOP wasn’t even threatening a filibuster. The Rats were deliberately NOT holding hearing because they didn’t want anyone knowing that this man will coldly decide to cut off their medical care and allow people to die because they are no longer of any use to the regime.

It's a popular idea: that Adam Smith's invisible hand would do a better job of designing care than leaders with plans can...yeah, those leaders with plans sure helped the Soviet Union's agricultural production over fifty or so years - millions dead from starvation - but hey, the big thing is those leaders got a chance to be important and make their plans......

Of course this Socialist pig wants to control everyone's health care while at thesame time hehas arranged for a LIFETIME private health care regime for himself and his wife.

Think he is a true believer? Not hardly.
