He should have used some of that classic Rove-Jitsu on them and turned it back on them as a question of their own intelligence and fitness to serve the American people.

One of the dumbest episodes ever was taking back the reference to the ‘yellow cake’.

The facts were on President Bush’s side and why he took back that reference is inexplicable.

Is it fair to impugn Ted Kennedy and John Edwards?

Kennedy was, in fact, and agent of the USSR and SVK
like so many in the DNC.

And Edwards had an excuse. He was so busy
as “Father of the Year”.

Sorry Karl, you SCREWED US OVER on Immigration - that was your BIGGEST MISTAKE, as it demoralized the Republicans so much that we didn’t bother voting in 2006 or 2008 (or didn’t in the usual numbers).

Now we have Health Care, Banking Bill, probably Cap and Trade and Amnesty.

YOU WERE HORRIBLE.

Failing to refute charges that Bush lied us into war has hurt our country.

Now that Rove has gotten that off his chest I hope he can put on his visionary hat and chart a new course for 2010 and beyond.

The rear view mirror has 20/20 vision.

I have to agree with this assessment.

I also wish Bush would have used the veto to stop Congressional Democrats from their spending spree.

So Rove is admitting that he counseled GWBush to not fight back at the false dummy allegations??? Gee thanks, Karl. Do you feel better now?

This episode could not have occurred without the willing help of the press. The Democrats could not have sustained the big lie without their assistance.

Good things come to those who wait. Right now, Ted Kennedy is rotting in hell. That's a good thing...and I waited a loooooooong time.

BTW, where's John Edwards these day? Rotting in his own little hell I think.

At the time, we in the Bush White House discussed responding but decided not to relitigate the past. That was wrong and my mistake: I should have insisted to the president that this was a dagger aimed at his administration's heart.

It's not like you didn't have fifty milliom Americans SCREAMING at you to DO SOMETHING you slimy insipid sh*t-eating moron. NOW, you figure out that, Oh, it was a mistake.

relitigate the past...

The past?? If Karl Rove was anything more than a slimy mealworm he would blow his f**king head off out of disgrace for what he did to this nation.

You’re right,Karl. We should have fought back. We are STILL fending off these attacks. And trust me, we can’t make that mistake again. The Left has had the power for 4 years now and it has been an unmitigated disaster.

The best defense is a good offense. And we are fighting for our lives.

Without a doubt, the biggest failing of the Bush Administration was their lack of a spine in fighting back and failure to communicate the truth. They forfeited their credibility to the most unworthy, pathetic, losers in our country. Living in S. Florida it seemed that a week did not go by in 2004 that I didn’t hear that insufferable Lurch come down here spouting his crap in my neighborhood and nearly winning the presidency. Bush’s lack of response diminished the standing of all who defended him and the Iraq War and Bush’s strong hand against the UN and all the lying Anti-Americans in our Congress.

The only mishandled issue that even comes close to matching the Bush Lied scam was the Administration’s lack of response to the Oil for Food Scandal. Again, this was a fastball down the middle that the Administration should have hit out of the park to fully expose the UN corruption and their Leftist support in this country. This would have reconfirmed justification for taking out Saddam AND the UN criminals, starting with corrupt Kofi and his band of thieves. He would have restored the Left to their proper place of insignificance and made it a lot easier to win the war and save our soldiers’ lives. Instead the Bush Administration struck out on this one. I defended Bush and still do on Iraq, but he was very derelict in defending and communicating the justification for our actions.

Bush decided he didn’t want to put Russia on the spot by highlighting their role in dismantalling the factory in Iraq and hiding the material in Syria.

Big Mistake!

There’s no downside on showing the world the evil Russia is capable of!

He’s right, but it’s a little too late.

I could not at the time believe they let the Dems get away with the “Bush lied, people died” nonsense. Everyone, Rs and Ds alike, had the same intel and they publicly made similar statements about the likelihood Saddam possessed WMD. We all “knew” it was true, there was not one voice of disagreement. Then the pulled this stunt and Rove et al let them get away with it.

Shame on them all.

Way too little, way too late, Karl. What are you concerned with...Dubya’s legacy?...your legacy? If you cannot stand up to these same lyin’ PsOS now what difference will your previous miscalculation matter? These cretins pounded your administration every day. The no response, no veto, go along to get along crap was disgusting. Waaaaaaaay too much capitulation.

You still cannot get in their lyin’ faces. In other words, you’re useless. Taking the intellectual moral-high ground does not impress totalitarian thugs. Never has. Never will. Witness history. GET LOST.

Yes, it was his worst mistake. It was also a fatal mistake for the Bush Administration that allowed the opposition to set the agenda, declare was was true and what was not, and lead the country down the slippery slope that we are now on. Barack Obama is a product of Karl Rove and the country may never recover.

I disagree, I was a "broken glass" Republican supporter of Bush, but he was a huge disappointment.

Fellow Republicans were displeased with many things that Bush did, but his biggest mistake was when it became obvious that the single domestic issue Bush worked longest and hardest on was not for them or even Americans, but the Mexican government's illegal aliens. He refused to do his duty to protect America and secure our borders unless we gave him amnesty, that was when he drove his approval numbers in the mid twenties range with the loss of a third to a half of his base voters approval.
