White House "corrects" NASA’s Muslim comment (The closet Muslim in the White House gets exposed)
MSNBC ^ | 7/12/2010 | Reuters

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Monday that NASA administrator Charles Bolden was wrong to claim that reaching out to the Muslim world was a top priority for the U.S. space agency.

Bolden raised eyebrows in the space community and outrage among conservative pundits by telling Al-Jazeera television recently President Barack Obama had instructed him to work for better outreach with the Muslim world.

He said Obama told him one of his top priorities was to "find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math and engineering."

Improving relations with the Muslim world was a top foreign policy priority for Obama on taking office last year, and he delivered a major speech on the topic in Cairo in June 2009.

The White House last week sought to clarify Bolden's comment, saying Obama wanted NASA to engage with the world's best scientists and engineers from countries like Russia and Japan, Israel and many Muslim-majority countries.

That failed to end the controversy.

It'd be nice if they could get their message straight on something so basic and simple. I'm beginning to be reminded of the Keystone Kops.

They spend a lot of time “un-saying” things.

"Oh, no thanks. We've got it covered. Our Scientists already know how to blow shit up - on an industrial scale. In case you didn't know yet, we kind of invented all those spare radioshack and cell phone parts you Muzzy "Engineers" scrounge for your "Science" projects.

I heard that A.Q. Khan guy was a pretty sharp muslim scientist. I know Pakistan appreciates his work in their nuclear weapons program.

The guy got fired for saying, rather than doing, what he was told to do.

I wonder if there has been a Muslim Astronaut. I remember there’s one that could have been the first, a lady from Indonesia in the mid 1980s who was part of NASA program, but was canceled in the aftermath of the Challenger tragedy.

Above all others, this event has publicly raised Obama to the level of “Muslim in Chief”. Damn traitor.

Reminding me of an article some years ago that so little scientific books originate in Islamic states. Islamic theology seems unconcerned about a natural order of things, if it accepts the idea at all.

I’ve always liked Bolden and was shocked by his words. Now I understand that he was only following instructions - as a good soldier. Sorry Charlie. The Muslim-in-Chief has been exposed more than ever. Wonder how much of the MSM will cover the WH flip-flop on this issue?

"Reminding me of an article some years ago that so little scientific books originate in Islamic states. Islamic theology seems unconcerned about a natural order of things, if it accepts the idea at all."

People will point to the first 500 years of Islam as a "golden age" full of scientific and cultural advances in the Muslim world. A closer look reveals most of the advances of this golden age were the achievements of the peoples the Muslims had conquered. Once those civilizations died out and Islam had completely taken over the "golden age" ended.

Great question - Now it’s Bolden’s credibility on the line. We’ll all see how much he wants the job. Time to crawl out from under the bus and set the pubic record straight on behalf of the thousands of NASA employees who were demoralized by the original statement.
