What is HOPE NOW?

HOPE NOW is an alliance between counselors, mortgage companies, investors, and other mortgage market participants. This alliance will maximize outreach efforts to homeowners in distress to help them stay in their homes and will create a unified, coordinated plan to reach and help as many homeowners as possible. The members of this alliance recognize that by working together, they will be more effective than by working independently.

The Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development encouraged leaders in the lending industry, investors and non-profits to form this alliance.

HOPE LoanPort, powered by RxOffice and developed by the HOPE NOW Alliance, is a Web-based tool that streamlines loan modification applications on behalf of borrowers at-risk of foreclosure, allowing housing counselors to efficiently transmit completed applications to mortgage servicers.

stimulus funds are temporary...when they run out in a couple of months, we’ll be reading about how these poor people are being evicted

Daytona Beach - do they get free air conditioning too? And new clothes, paper goods, a grill? Food, water, liquor and sunscreen? DVDs and water pistols for the kids? Long skool breaks with automatic grade promotion so the kids stay as dumb as their parents?

All the stuff for which I worked so hard for my family is now a sour joke.

Guess they believe in looooooong engagements. With a third child on the way, I guess it makes sense that they can't afford their Dream Wedding.

I hate this dilution of language by presstitutes, who are trying to give legitimacy to the immoral, biot hetero & homo. "Fiancee" doesn't mean the current shack-job; it means "a betrothed, intended bride". There is NO intent to marry here.

This is really insulting to all engaged, moral brides-to-be.

On another level, this "relationship" is insuklting to the taxpayers who have to support this "family".

I am NOT moved to tears & sympathy by the author, but rather to outrage that my hard earned tax dollars are beig used to aid & abbet this kind of "lifestyle".

Whaddya think of a guy who is in a stable marriage of over 11 years, has 4 kids and got a vasectomy after #4, had a stable job he’s been in over 9 years, and was just accepted to the Section 8 program?

It’s the first time he’s been able to be in a house since he was married. Apartments only beforehand. He intends to make his house in the neighborhood he’s going into a nice house, free of trash, with a well-kept lawn.

He is a WHITE, ENGLISH SPEAKING man. No criminal record. Never been in prison. Never been without a job for very long. 4-year veteran of US military service.

Do NOT assume that EVERY Section 8 user is a foreign illegal, a criminal, or a leech.

We got a Section 8 apartment complex in my neighborhood. Mostly Katrina “refugees” as far as I can tell. The government has no business being in that business.

They previously lived in Miami and moved to Deltona where his mom lives. They rented a house in Deltona, but then he lost his construction job and had to live with his mom while his fiancee and children had to live in Oviedo with relatives for six months.

Kinda like the Katrina evacuees who, a year or two after the hurricane, still hadn’t found work, were still letting the government pay for everything, and then had the nerve to bi$ch when the bennies ran out.

I think being unwed w children = more benefits than if married. Lots of young females with kids and their mate are living in house of one of their parents and “helping out w $) while living there. Also collecting handouts while working. Scamming the system in many ways - like collecting foods stamps as well - while working. These people HAVE NO SHAME!

Well—there IS that! LOL!

It brings more (of our) money into his household.

My thought is that we should cover the country with orphanages again, and take these fatherless babies away from the mothers. (The dads don’t live with them, anyway.) They should stay in the orphanage until either the parents get jobs and can care for them properly or until they are adopted out to people who really want them.

Don’t guess that will ever fly, though.....not in this day and age.
