Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias (D) did not pay taxes
The Chicago Examiner ^ | July 4, 2010 | Mary Egan

Posted on 07/04/2010 8:55:21 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Illinois State Treasurer and candidate for U.S. Senate Alexi Giannoulias did not have to pay his state and federal taxes this year due to losses incurred from the failure of his Broadway Bank. Giannoulias' campaign released his financial information on Friday.

Giannoulias is set to receive $30,000 in tax refunds because of his bank's failure. The Treasurer has said that all of that money is going to be donated to charity.

The Broadway Bank had been largely forgotten in the race for U.S. Senator, but the release of Giannoulias' financial records seems to have dredged it up once more. Giannoulias owned a portion of the Broadway Bank, which was caught giving loans connected to various crimes. The bank was seized by regulators in April of this year.

Well come on. What’s the big deal if this is true? He’s a Democrat and as we all know or should know they are held to a different standard than we mere mortals. They are God’s reps here on earth and we need to give them a wide berth. /s

........ and you wonder why Illinois is broke.

You really have to wonder why the state is holding its hand out asking us for welfare.

My advice for this corrupt state is to quit writing checks if you don’t have money in the account. Additionally, quit electing clueless and incompetent boobs like obama.

‘RATS don’t pay taxes. They’re “nice people” and that’s all that matters. One thing about commie, limousine liberals, they love and want money just as much as anyone else and will do whatever it takes to keep the government from getting its dirty hands on it.

If the deductions are legal then people should STFU.

Great fodder for campaign ads. Giethner, Daschle, and now Giannnoulias. Too big to fail and don’t have to pay taxes because they are Democrats? Time for a class envy boomerang!
Corruption and tax avoidance, what a resume enhancer.
Even the weak rino kirk will beat him despite kirk’s little military embellishments. Too bad IL couldn’t have had a little longer primary season.

What would that be called? Deductions on loss of criminal enterprise? What page of the IRS manual is that on anyway?

Giannoulias? Kirk?

I vote none of the above.

I live in Illinois and I will never vote for either.

Ill. Senate Candidate’s Bank Made $20 Million in Loans to Felons
wsj | Susan Davis / FR Posted by Nachum

It’s a rough way to start the weekend. Chicago Tribune header: Alexi Giannoulias, the Democrat running for President Barack Obama’s Illinois Senate seat this fall, woke up this morning to see his face blazoned across the top of the Chicago Tribune with the headline: “$20 MILLION IN LOANS TO FELONS.”

Broadway Bank, the Giannoulias family bank, has been under scrutiny as it struggles to avoid a federal takeover. Giannoulias’s role at the bank has become a key issue in the Senate race against Republican Rep. Mark Kirk. (Excerpt) Read more at blogs.wsj.com ...

Ginnaonolis is so blatantly crooked that Mike Madigan won't even tough him with a 10 ft. pole. Most of the Dem bosses know Ginnanolis will be toxic for them. (Madigan unsuccessful sought to derail Obama's buddy in both the 2006 Treasurer primary and 2010 U.S. Senate primary. IMO, Madigan is covertly supporting Kirk behind the scenes now) The RAT primary was a lot closer than the GOP primary. The numbers were:

Alexi Giannoulias 351,120 38.9%
David Hoffman 303,719 33.7%
Cheryle Jackson 178,941 19.8%
Robert Marshall 51,606 5.7%
Jacob Meister 16,232 1.8%

All five RAT candidates were solid socialists. Hoffman is Inspector General of Chicago, Daley/Madigan's choice to take out Giannoulias. Jackson was the lone black candidate and that was her base. Meister was the far-left openly gay candidate and his base likewise was the "equal marriage rights now" crowd. Marshall was an Alexi plant who was recruited to go after Hoffman and peal away votes from him. Had Marshall's votes gone to Hoffman, he would have beat Alexi by 5,000 votes.

With both Kirk and Alexi's negatives skyrocketing, the little known Green Party candidate is now polling 14% despite his lack of advertising and money. It will be interesting to see what happens if both Constitution Party nominee Randy Stufflebeam and Libertarian Party nominee Mike Labro remain on the ballot.

On as positive note.... in our Governor's race, the Brady/Plummer ticket continues to stay ahead by double digits and have been running an disciplined and effective general election campaign, with 80% of their stops in the Chicagoland area. Bill & his wife Nancy marched in my hometown's Independence Day parade on Friday with the local tea party (I spoke with him and his son Will briefly). Brady outnumbered Quinn signs 10-to-1 in the audience, and I'm in an area that gave Obama 60% of the vote two years ago.

“The Treasurer has said that all of that money is going to be donated to charity.”

So... it’s going where it would go anyway. To one of his political friends , who then funnel some of it back as campaign donations.
