BLOSSVALE, N.Y. New York state police say a man who shot a 3-month-old baby to death in front of troopers during a standoff has been shot by officers and wounded.
Police say the armed man was outside a home in the upstate town of Blossvale when troopers arrived after getting a 911 call about a domestic dispute at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Troopers say they shot the man after he used a long gun to shoot the baby and open fire on officers.

This baby is in a better place. Never had a chance. Prayers.
Dear God, Prayers for the baby.
“Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.” Matt. 24:12
Have to admire the cops’ restraint. Had I been there and armed, that perp wouldn’t have survived the baby more than a few seconds.
Cons hate child murderers.
Send the Troopers back to the Marksmanship Range for some intensive training.
“shot by officers and wounded.”
Wounded? Must’ve been too many witnesses around.
Why was the perp wounded? Did the officers recieve sensitivity training prior? This creep needs to be dead.
Why is it that this guy is still amongst the living? I think the troopers needs some target practice.
I hope this evil monster becomes the favorite ‘wife’ of every convict in whatever prison he goes to. May he die a slow death from acute anal infection.
As a cop, let me tell you that if I was there I would be way more interested in getting to that baby once the perp was dropped than I would be with killing him.
“Glad they only wondeded the ‘suspect’ !
Cons hate child murderers.”
I really hate it when they call someone who obviously commited a crime and/or was caught in the act a “suspect”.
Like Joran Vander Sloot (sp).
We had a case a few years back where a drug addled maniac was holding a baby and had a knife at the baby’s throat. The cop responding with drawn gun, ordered him to put the baby down. When no response to that command, the cop shot the animal right between the eyes, dropping him instantly.
The only thing that happened to the baby was the fall when the man fell dead.
All such stories should end the same way. My son is a member of that police force but he was not the cop involved in this story. He told me that the cop involved made the shot in a semi darkened room from about 15 feet and knew he had to act and that his shot had better be good and not hit the baby. What a responsibility to put on a man.
The baby doesn’t need any prayer, he is with the Lord.
If I saw a man taking aim at a baby with a shotgun or rifle, I would have tried to open fire before he had time to pull the trigger.
True, but I always pray for the comfort of their soul. Usually I ask for comfort for the family, but not this time.
It works for me. All in all, it is just sad.
About 10-15 years ago here in NYC, there was a hostage situation in a building lobby in midtown Manhattan. The NYPD duty Captain responded, and walked into the lobby. The bad guy was holding a knife on a woman. Guy says, “I want a car, money...” Duty Capt. says, “Sure...”, and draws his .38 and blows the guy away. Today, he’d be charged with a murder...

Know what I hate more?
"A Person Of Interest"!
The problem is, if they are holding them at gunpoint, you'd better sever the spinal cord at the base of the brain with your first shot; otherwise there's a very good chance they'll pull the trigger reflexively even if your first shot is otherwise fatal. Snipers train to take that shot, but even an excellent shot with a sidearm is going to have trouble making it.
If there's even the slimmest chance the situation can be resolved peacefully, that's generally the route to pursue until things deteriorate. I can bash bad cops with the best of them, but the officers in this situation sound like they did their best in a very bad situation. This incident will most likely haunt them for the rest of their lives.
