The battle of Arizona has made its way to Naperville.
About 200 people gathered Saturday afternoon at the Naperville Municipal Center, some rallying in support of Arizona's new immigration law, some to counterprotest, and others to keep some semblance of peace.
The Stand With Arizona rally was organized by members of the Naperville Tea Party Patriots and featured speakers from that group, the Illinois Minutemen Project, an anti-immigrant group based in Skokie, and the Illinois Sons of Liberty, which rolled into downtown Naperville on motorcycles decked in American and Gadsden flags.
Across a barrier erected by Naperville police, counter-protesters from a handful of Chicago groups led by Immigrant Solidarity DuPage shouted chants like "Power to the people, no one is illegal," partially drowning out the rally's reading of Arizona's Senate bill 1070, the bill at the heart of the controversy.
The new Arizona state law, which is set to go into effect this August, would require local law enforcement officials to enforce federal immigration law, including asking for proof of citizenship for those suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, which detractors, both at Saturday's rally and across the country, say could only result in racial profiling.
"They don't want to build a wall around Canada," said Ryne Poelker, a Chicago resident taking part in the counter-protest. "How can you suspect people are immigrants without looking at their skin color?"
As Newspapers readership continues to decline, if anyone has any doubt why, it can be found in this article that either is completely VOID of the facts OR it is because people who write articles inject their OWN bias views.
I was taught by a good friend and long time journalist that WRITING 101 they will teach a reporter to check their facts before printing a clearly erroneous story.
We were present at the rally from 2:45PM until it ended. I was NEVER approached with a girl who had PRESS CREDENTIALS and asked any questions about the Illinois Minuteman Project.
Your reporter wrote that the Illinois Minuteman Project is ANTI IMMIGRANT. This is an absolute total lie but was written with your reporter JENETTE STURGES Political agenda in mind.
The Illinois Minuteman Project opposes Illegal immigration and are dedicated to educating the taxpayers of Illinois on how illegal immigration is effecting them. WE have many IMMIGRANTS who came to this nation legally and are dues paying members. Why in the world would we be anti-Immigrant.
Second error is Rick Biesada is NOT a Member of the Illinois Minuteman Project which Jenette suggested in her article. All she would have had to do is take 3 seconds and asked Rick who he was so she could be a factual writer NOT a FICTIONAL writer!
Rick is the Director of the Chicago Minuteman Project and United States Marine.
Jennette absolutely insulted all of us by her erroneous claims. We would like a response from the President there at THE SUN.
PLEASE join the Illinois Minutemen's mission for Social Justice! Here are the e-mail address of those at the SUN Newspaper that need to be contacted for calling us ANTI_IMMIGRANT jsturges@stmedianetwork.com rwall@stmedianetwork.com, nreiher@stmedianetwork.com

Why do I get the feeling there were more than 200 rallying to support the Arizona law?
DUmmy. Never ask a rhetorical question to which you don't already know the answer.
Some of the gypsies were on that side of the barrier, amongst their 'friends', picking their pockets. The other gypsies were on the other side of the barrier amongst the Tea Partiers and Minutemen, picking their pockets....The Chicago Way!
Hello,
As the son of a WW2 veteran & retired Social Worker for Catholic Charities, the son of a retired Registered Nurse, raised in a good Christian Catholic home I was taught the Ten Commandments. One of which is: Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor....translated....DON’T LIE! The Illinois Minuteman Project of which I am not only a PROUD MEMBER of but also Winnebago County’s Director takes PERSONAL OFFENSE of the term “ANTI IMMIGRANT”! I AM NOT! WE ARE NOT! We are anti-ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTION! Look it up in the dictionary, ILLEGAL MEANS ILLEGAL! Why is it in the media that YOU CONTINUE to call ILLEGAL ALIENS....IMMIGRANTS and NOT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS? It is only SEVEN LETTERS! Certainly as a PROFESSIONAL JOURNALIST YOU CAN TYPE SEVEN LETTERS! Calling an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT an UNDOCUMENTED WORKER is like calling a DRUG DEALER an UNLICENSED PHARMACIST!
