Tea party activists have flexed some muscle on the busiest primary night of the year.
State Rep. Nikki Haley pushed ahead of three rivals in the Republican gubernatorial race in South Carolina. She will face Rep. Gresham Barrett in a June 22 runoff.
Another tea party favorite, Sharron Angle, won the right to challenge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada in November.
Sen. Blanche Lincoln's Arkansas primary win in her bid for a third Senate term marks a stunning defeat for organized labor.
Unions had poured more than $5 million into an effort to dump Lincoln in retaliation for her departure from party orthodoxy on numerous issues. Lincoln won a close one over Lt. Gov. Bill Halter.
Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina is the Republican candidate for Senate from California. She'll oppose three-term Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer in the fall.
In the governor's race, another wealthy businesswoman, Meg Whitman, the former eBay chief executive, easily won the Republican primary.
Keith Fimian won in VA 11 District over Pat Herrity. Fimian was a great supporter of the Tea Party activities when we were picketing Jerry Connolly. You couldn’t find Herrity. Glad to see Fimian win.
AP can’t figure this out.
Paul LePage won extremely handily in a 7 way race in Maine for the Republican Gov. nomination.
No poll had LePage in 1st place or breaking 15%. The most recent poll had him at 10%. Huge numbers of undecided.
He ended up winning with 38% (if numbers hold) to 17% for the 2nd place finisher (Otten).
Very interesting results. LePage was the tea party candidate, and it is believed that grass roots, door to door, face to face campaigning really made the difference.
Some small towns gave 65-70% to LePage, areas that aren’t even near his hometown. These are quite surprising results. This race hasn’t been watched, but if the media interested in writing a “tea party” story without making it a Palin story, or a woman story, I’d look closely at LePage.
He was outspent by at least 3 other candidates, was way down in the polls (but there were huge numbers of undecideds), did little TV, but was able to win a massive victory.
Also in Maine, there’s a heavily Tea Party influenced new GOP platform. The Knox County Republicans wrote that platform and it was enthusiastically received. LePage
did very well in Knox County - winning 53% (as of now) of the vote there. Knox County went stronger for LePage than LePage’s home county of Kennebec.

Thanks for the link.
Mark French lost in Montana, so not everyone got lucky.

I voted LePage, in the general he is up against a life long establishment female Democrat who was endorsed by BillJeff Clinton.
It should be an interesting race. Hope he can pull it off.
Govenor Palins endorsement power is looking golden
Sen. Blanche Lincoln <—Saved by Bill Clinton...Bill campaigned constantly for Lincoln.
Very nice.
Let's hope not. She backs McCain. Bad, bad choice.
he got 4 votes from our house!
I don’t believe that Palin made any statement or endorsement regarding LePage.
LePage’s win in Maine is huge. This state might actually do a turn-around this year.
The elitists surround themselves with other elitists,
who all backslap and affirm how smart they all are,
and they can’t figure out why “we the people” don’t see how smart they are.
