Mexico opens California office to provide ID for illegals (ICE forced to comply)
Washington Examiner ^ | 6/3/10 | Sara A. Carter, National Security Correspondent

Posted on 06/03/2010 6:26:01 AM PDT by Liz

The Mexican government is opening a satellite consular office on Catalina Island -- a small resort off the California coast with a history of drug smuggling and human trafficking -- to provide the island's illegal Mexican immigrants with identification cards, The Washington Examiner has learned. The Mexican consular office in Los Angeles issued a flier, a copy of which was obtained by The Examiner, listing the Catalina Island Country Club as the location of its satellite office. It invites Mexicans to visit the office to obtain the identification, called matricular cards, by appointment.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, a Republican whose district includes Catalina Island, said handing out matricular cards will exacerbate an already dangerous situation. "Handing out matricular cards to Mexicans who are not in this country legally is wrong no matter where it's done," he said. "But on Catalina it will do more damage. It's a small island but there's evidence it's being used as a portal for illegals to access mainland California."

Rohrabacher added, "If there were a large number of Americans illegally in Mexico and the U.S. consulate was making it easier for them to stay, Mexico would never permit it." Mexican officials with the consular office in Los Angeles could not be reached immediately for comment. The matricular consular identification card, is issued by the Mexican government to Mexican nationals residing outside the country, regardless of immigration status. The purpose is to provide identification for opening bank accounts and obtaining other services. But the cards are usually used to skirt U.S. immigration laws, since Mexicans in the country legally have documents proving that status, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said.

In 2004 testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, FBI officials called the card an unreliable form of identification. The agency said that Mexico lacks a centralized database for them, which could lead to forgery, duplication, and other forms of abuse. Officers with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said their agency was asked by Mexican officials not to enforce US immigration laws on the island while the cards were being issued. "It amazes me every time that the Mexican government has the gall to tell us what to do," said an ICE official, who asked not to be named. "More surprisingly is how many times we stand by and let them. This is just an example of one of hundreds of requests we've had to deal with."

In April, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies seized a boat carrying large quantities of marijuana and detained three Mexican nationals who said they were being smuggled into the United States. The island has a sizable Mexican migrant population. Most are undocumented low-income workers.

MICHELE MALKIN--4/29/10--The Mexican government is notorious for its abuse of Central American illegal aliens who attempt to violate Mexico’s southern border. The Red Cross has protested rampant Mexican police corruption, intimidation and bribery schemes targeting illegal aliens there for years. Mexico didn’t respond by granting mass amnesty to illegal aliens, as it is demanding that we do. It clamped down on its borders even further. In late 2008, the Mexican government launched an aggressive deportation plan to curtain illegal Cuban immigration and human trafficking through Cancun. Meanwhile, Mexican consular offices in the United States have coordinated with left-wing social justice groups and the Catholic Church leadership to demand a moratorium on all deportations and a freeze on all employment raids across America. Mexico is doing the job Arizona is now doing — a job the US government has failed miserably to do: putting its people first. Here’s the proper rejoinder to all the hysterical demagogues in Mexico (and their sympathizers here on American soil) now calling for boycotts and invoking Jim Crow laws, apartheid and the Holocaust because Arizona has taken its sovereignty into its own hands: Hipócritas.

Interesting. I had NO idea Catalina had become such a problem regarding illegals. Hadn’t even dreamt of it. This is quite a surprise to me.

Is this the same Santa Catalina Island made famous in song?
Twenty six miles across the sea
Santa Catalina is a-waitin' for me
Santa Catalina, the island of romance, romance, romance.

My cousin used to be able to swim there when she was in high school. I suppose this gives a new meaning to "wet back".

Just here for a "better life" (sniffle).

Amnesty whores itemize why they oppose Arizona's law at Phoenix Capital protest, May 29, 2010. Odd that Mehican prez Calderon did not tell the Congress and Ohaha all o' that (/snix)

This comes straight out of the Mexican government's handbook taught in US schools. Accuracy in Academia investigated "ethnic studies" and uncovered damaging material in the high schools of Tuscon, Arizona. Paulo Freire (a Brazilian Marxist)'s book called Pedagogy of the Oppressed is required reading in Arizona's "Raza Studies" (ie, Race Studies), otherwise known as "Mexican-American courses."

Another favorite is "Occupied America" by Rodolfo Acuna, professor of Chicano Studies at California State University in Northridge. "Occupied America," according to the invaders, includes a map of Mexico in 1821 which includes the American Southwest. A choice quote from "Occupied America." It gives us an idea of material Hispanic students are being exposed to in Arizona public schools: "We are fed up. We are going to do away with the injustice to the Chicano and if the 'gringo' doesn't get out of our way, we will stampede over him."

Another priceless gem: "(The Mexican speaker) attacked the gringo establishment angrily at a press conference and called upon Chicanos to "Kill the gringo,' which meant to end white control over Mexicans."

THIRD WORLDERS HATE AMERICA AND AMERICANS The savages vow to "Kill the gringo! Stampede over him! Rise up and overthrow the White oppressor in a bloody Communist insurrection! "

Agents feared Mexican drug cartel attack on border dam
Houston Chronicle ^ | 06/03/10 | DANE SCHILLER and JAMES PINKERTON
FR Posted on Thursday, June 03, 2010 9:24:39 AM by AtlasStalled An alleged plot by a Mexican drug cartel to blow up a dam along the Texas border — and unleash billions of gallons of water into a region with millions of civilians — sent American police, federal agents and disaster officials secretly scrambling last month to thwart such an attack, authorities confirmed Wednesday. Whether or not the cartel, which is known to have stolen bulk quantities of gunpowder and dynamite, could have taken down the 5-mile-long Falcon Dam may never be known since the attack never came to pass. It may have been derailed by a stepped-up presence by the Mexican military, which was acting in part on intelligence from the U.S. government, sources said.

The warning, which swung officials into action, was based on what the federal government contends were “serious and reliable sources” and prompted the Department of Homeland Security to sound the alarm to first responders along the South Texas-Mexico border. Mexico's Zeta cartel was planning to destroy the dam not to terrorize civilians, but to get back at its rival and former ally, the Gulf cartel, which controls smuggling routes from the reservoir to the Gulf of Mexico, said Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez, head of the Southwest Border Sheriff's Coalition, as did others familiar with the alleged plot.

But in the process, massive amounts of agricultural land would stand to be flooded as well as significant parts of a region where about 4 million people live along both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. (Excerpt) Read more at chron.com ...

May I suggest that along the border we widen the river, dig a huge moat and fill it full of alligators and crocodiles.

FBI officials called the card an unreliable form of identification.

From the description in the article, it's actually very reliable. If someone presents one as his form of ID, it means he has nothing better, such as a passport, driver's license, or green card. Dollars to doughnuts, he's an illegal. Book 'im, Dan-o!

My wife and I were totally shocked a couple of winters ago when we were in Avalon. My wife lived there for quite awhile and couldn't believe how much it had changed. Lots of Spanish speakers men and graffiti.

Interestingly, there are even illegal aliens in Hawaii of all places (where I grew up), probably imported by builders for the housing developments in Kapolei. I guess business models these days require illegal labor rates.

From a grammar standpoint, that is the best protest sign I’ve seen yet. Not a misspelling in the bunch. And the printing is very even. So they got that going for them, which is nice.

Who is in charge of US-Mexican border - US or Mexico? Looks like the answer is Mexico because US has defaulted on one of its most fundamental responsibilities!

Please call Rep. Dana Rohrbacher, show him we care and are watching.....Obviously our American Sovereignty no longer exists or at least counts for anything. Obama and Governor Schwarzenegger have achieved their goals of open borders...for votes? Yes, for votes.

(Start here Boarders XX1 Program)

[snip] "In 1993, U.S.-Mexico cooperative activities were further enhanced by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and related environmental agreements. In one such agreement, the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC) and the North American Development Bank (NADBank) were created to develop, certify, and finance environmental infrastructure projects in the border area between the U.S. and Mexico. Additionally, the Border XXI Program will coordinate with the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) also created under NAFTA to promote environmental cooperation throughout North America."

There is much to learn - it is ongoing today with American and Mexican tax-dollars providing for what????? The EPA has XX1 reaching almost to Mexico city.
