So now the rap on President Obama is that his response to the oil spill along the Gulf Coast hasn't been heartfelt enough. He comes off as emotionally detached, critics say, and, by the way, isn't it a pity that the white folk from the coastal red states who never wanted a black man in the White House in the first place are complaining that he doesn't care about them?
Talk about projecting their hard feelings onto others.
"The politics of the disaster are Cajun hot, but Obama is cerebral cool," wrote Howard Fineman on msnbc.com. So we get our first black president -- and he's criticized for being too smart and not temperamental enough! Obama just can't seem to catch a break. He gets no credit for doing right and gets blamed even when he does nothing wrong.
Fineman, who penned one of the classier critiques, urged Obama to put some "Tabasco" into his reactions. No doubt the president would then be criticized for being a hotheaded militant. But he should go for it anyway.

Just to amuse myself, I read stories like this and replace “oil spill” with “Hurricane Katrina” and “Obama” with “Bush” and pretend the story would have been written.

The fact of the matter is this:
The oil spill happened on Obama’s watch just like Katrina happened on Bush’s.
The difference is that one disaster was a natural phenomena and the other was man made and preventable.
Obama came very late to the oil spill disaster where Bush on the other hand, for as much as the criticism was levelled against him, was on top of things almost immediately because the governor of Louisiana at the time and the mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, were dithering and arguing about what to do while at the same time trying to cover their butts.
Obama continues to dither and does not allow Bobby Jindal to act on his own authority with his own ideas. Obama does not even use all the US resources at his disposal to fix or at least alleviate the oil spill disaster.
Obama is an empty suit and incompetent.
Obama is good at talking but that is all he is good at as all liberals are. When it comes to action and actually doing something constructive to help their fellow Americans they are all nowhere to be found. But when it comes to helping themselves and their elitist tax evading godless degenerate, liberal friends, well that’s another story.
Would making us feel that he’s competent to do the job be too much to ask or is he excused because of his race?

Obama took office after the steps taken by the Bush administration, Tarp, had saved the economy from a second great depression whereupon Obama proceeded to create an economic mess with porkulus, overspending, health care "reform," demagoguery and class warfare, thus undermining entrepreneurial confidence, ostensibly to create jobs but in reality to subsidize leftist electoral prospects, and has very nearly cast the nation into another economic crisis.
My version is fully as plausible as the authors and it is backed up with just as much data. We must strike back at this election campaign rhetoric which we will hear more and more as we approach November.
So, little barry can’t catch a break. Neither can we. We are subjected to their childish and petty behavior and get to pay for it all. Plus, the little urkel made the statement that they were in charge from day one, so ok there junior you own this. If he is going to be in command, then he needs to lead, not float criminal charges at BP. BP didn’t want this and they want it to go away ASAP. If we had a real president, he would have ordered the EPA and all the other federal environmental types to stand down and actually work with BP and the gulf states to contain the damage then fix it. But no we have a historic first agitator who is doing what he knows to do. This goofball couldn’t lead his dog out into the yard to do it’s business. The dog has no respect for him either. Probably pees on his leg like he does to us.

The black president does not know how to act. A magnificent admission. Some unsolicited advice. He could try acting like the president of the US.
Sending his AG to the coast with an agenda to sue the pants off BP does not remove one drop of oil from the coast. Try getting the oil cleaned up. There will plenty of time to file law suits after the problems are resolved.
The gov has more to lose than gain with law suits. They did, after all, approve all of the duly filed applications for the oil platform including pipe thicknesses, safety procedures and etc. BP will not have a hard time legally shifting culpability to the feds for the failure of the rig.
