You may be right. I know there were problems there, with both Cyprus and Turkey vying for control.
Cyprus rules two thirds of the island and Turkey rules one third.
Around 1974, this arrangement came into being, and I’m sure there was strife surrounding this settlement which probably involved terrorist activity.
In contemporary times, I don’t think it’s been a hot bed of problems. In fact, I think it’s been quite stable and non-problematic since the 74 time frame.
Perhaps someone else has a better handle on it than I though.
It’s ironic that Greek Cyprus is taking the side of their own muslim separatists on this issue!
