The two contrasting faces of President Obama in his relations with Israel and American Jews were on full display this week.
On Thursday, Obama hosted some 250 Jewish luminaries and high-achievers at an elaborate White House reception to mark Jewish Heritage Month. The administration pulled out all the stops to make this a memorable, first-ever event.

We must be singularly thankful that Netanyahu has the reins at this juncture. He is equal to the challenge, as few others would be.
“Jewish Heritage Month.” How many “Heritage Months” do we have now? There are only 12 months in the year. Have we included “Pacific Islanders Heritage Month”? If not, is that discrimination?

Unlike Netanyahu, the Jews invited to this event likely were very generous past campaign contributors whom Obama wants to encourage to keep on giving. Of course he’s going to pull out all the stops.
