The fake feminism of Sarah Palin (***BARF ALERT***)
Washington comPost ^ | 5/29/2010 | Jessica Valenti

Posted on 05/29/2010 6:03:11 AM PDT by markomalley

Sarah Palin sure is dropping the f-bomb a lot lately.

In a widely noted speech this month to the Susan B. Anthony List, an anti-abortion-rights group, Palin invoked the words "feminism" and "feminist" no less than a dozen times. She called for a "pro-woman sisterhood" and addressed the "sisters" in the audience. If it weren't for the regular references to gun rights, you might have thought you were listening to Gloria Steinem.

If this rhetoric seems uncharacteristic of the former governor of Alaska, that's because it is. When running for vice president in 2008, Palin flip-flopped on the feminist question, telling CBS's Katie Couric that she is one, but later telling NBC's Brian Williams, "I'm not going to label myself anything."

Today, however, Palin is happily adopting the feminist label. She's throwing support behind "mama grizzly" candidates, describing the large number of women in the "tea party" as evidence of a "mom awakening" and preaching girl power on her Facebook page.

It's not a realization of the importance of women's rights that's inspired the change. It's strategy. Palin's sisterly speechifying is part of a larger conservative move to woo women by appropriating feminist language. Just as consumer culture tries to sell "Girls Gone Wild"-style sexism as "empowerment," conservatives are trying to sell anti-women policies shrouded in pro-women rhetoric.

Liberals are so predictable. Black conservatives aren't black enough. Female conservatives aren't female enough.

I wonder if they just don't realize how transparent they've become or if they just don't care one way or the other.

I have no idea who this Jessica Valenti thinks she is but ALL the gals at the WarshPost are, by reputation, little more than sex objects ~ for each other or for perfect strangers.

They may think that's the very essence of feminism but it's not.

It's a combination. These people are nothing but willful dumbasses. Which gives them the opportunity to choose to be stupid!

Really? You mean Sarah was saying that it was okay for Bill Clinton to grab Kathleen Willey's breasts and force her hand on his privates because he stopped when Willey said no?

What an idiot this author is, what is she doing being employed by a newspaper????

OBVIOUSLY when Governor Palin was Johnnie McLame's VP-selection, she had to go by whatever his & Meg Whitman's and Romney's aides' SCRIPT for Palin was.

And obviously any SCRIPT created by Meg & Mitt and who knows who all other saboteurs was NOT the real Sarah Palin.

WHY is the Wahppo continually coming out with these insipid stoopid hit pieces???

Feminism is about power. What is the greatest source of power for women? They give birth, and then they raise the next generation. They are primarily responsible for child care. It means that whatever moral values we have, we learned from our mothers more than from anyone else.

Why does classic feminism deliberately forfeit the single greatest source of power that a woman has? And yet abortion has become a holy sacrament in their belief system.

Good grief, these people are petty and awful.

I met a Post reporter at the National Builder's Association meeting on a bus back to our hotel.

She wasn't very pretty, was extremely hassled, was very put off by being there, and generally had a negative personality.

I was suggesting positive story lines to her, ways of reporting on the many small entrepreneurs that were there. Her eyes glazed over and she just kept complaining about how she didn't like what she was doing. Let's just say that she was not a good representative of her trade......or maybe she was..........

She just wasn't a good representative of humanity.

So what they are stating is that mainstream feminism is a lie.

They claim to be for the edification of women.

As long as those women are leftists.

If a woman is conservative, they will seek to destroy her as any other misogynist.

Therefore, mainstream feminism is just another arm of leftism.

Mainstream feminism is “fake.”

“Just as consumer culture tries to sell “Girls Gone Wild”-style sexism as “empowerment,” conservatives are trying to sell anti-women policies shrouded in pro-women rhetoric. “

Anyone who thinks Palin is ‘anti-woman’ is a moron.

The things she has accomplished (like being Governor) she has done without riding the coattails of her husband, unlike a ‘true’ feminist like Hillary Clinton.

For the two cents that this is worth.

Feminism is something I studied. Not the kind that came about in the late 60’s and early 70’s, I mean REAL feminism, when women were truly 2nd class citizens. When they wanted to vote in an election; that kind of feminism.

Susan B. Anthony was a Republican, as were all feminists of the day. Every minority population hoping to be free was a Republican in those days, only Republicanism offered freedom and dignity.

If you ever wondered why the Susan B. Anthony group was PRO-LIFE, go there and read. They insisted upon dignity.

The left wing nutjob so-called “feminists” created a sentence for women. The pill allowed females to sleep around but for men to walk away. Even if pregnancy occurred. It was your fault, after all, if you weren’t on the pill.

But they weren’t done. These lunatics created (in many states) “no-fault” divorce. What they forgot to consider was that the same laws that would allow women to walk away from husbands and children would be the same ones to wipe away the protections moms and children enjoyed for generations.

These broads were the anti-Susan B. Anthony. They stood for INDIGNITY.

When I was a kid, and my parents used to watch the demonstrations of the 1960’s on TV, I remember my (now 76 yr. old) Dad wondering out loud....”I wonder what this country is going to look like when these people are in charge of things?”

Now, we know.

I love it when Palin drives them bonkers.

I’ve noticed a huge uptick in attacks from my liberal friends.

They are scared sitless.
