You forget, ‘experience’ is not near as important as ‘diversity’ in this administration’s la-la land.

I have to admit being a little shocked that it was a woman as well. What is her background expertise to have ever held the job in the first place? I can see a woman being able to determine mineral management as far as the royalties/monies are concerned, but overseeing rig safety and petroleum engineering etc. I don’t see. Call me old fashioned, but she doesn’t inspire confidence.

Just in-- Director of MMS Fired. Elizabeth Birnbaum has been fired, MSNBC reports.

update: Ken Salazar is now reporting, contradicting White House confirmation that she was fired, that she resigned. Salazar said she "did it on her own terms and volition."

It is not clear, from her bio, that Birnbaum was connected to the oil industry, and apparently, she was promoted to her job under Obama. It is clear that under her direction, MMS has failed to do its job protecting the US from Oil or Coal companies. Obama has called for performance evaluation of teachers. He should apply the same approach to agency administrators.

It is sad that she was not fired. She should not have been allowed to resign.
