No it means we should look at Brazil for what it is. An anti-American country which supports the sexualization of children.

From 2 posts later-"People like you use horrible cases like this to attack an entire religion when its really a few people."

Excuse me. The way I read your posts, you are simply whitewashing the whole thing. When someone points out a priest raped these children you justified it as the whole county does it so what's new. Then you say it's an attack on the Church. If there is criticism of the priest, you have muted it with the attitude, "Hey you're attacking the Church."

Personally I'm getting a bit sick and tired of mealymouthed Catholics on this site whinny about how every pedophile priest is an "attack" on the Church. They seem to be more interested in protecting the Church then they are in condemning the priests and demanding justice. I would remind Catholics (or any Christian for that matter), God takes a very dim view of our attitudes towards children and how other people treat them.

It is an offense in the nostrils of God for us to NOT demand justice. And God promises that people who FAIL to protect the children will be cut off from His grace.

Catholics should be the first to demand that these priests be excommunicated. Instead we find the attitude, "Hey, everyone does it. Let's just move him to another parish."

We're NOT talking about the pagan people of Brazil who minds are darkened to the truth. We're talking about SUPPOSEDLY God's representatives on earth.

Not really. We're just tired of people talking of it as if it's a strictly Catholic phenomenon.

You'll get no argument from me as to what should be done to these 'priests': excommunicate them, keep them from endangering the people of the flock, and handed over to legal authorities so that they face proper judgment under the law of their own country.

At least, that's my opinion.

Bravo Harley!

The standard defense among FRoman Catholics varies among the following:

1. Posting threads about Priests sexually molesting children and then being sheltered by the church is an attack on the church/Catholic bashing..

2. Teachers do it! Well, the church is supposed to have a higher standard then the world.

3. Protestants pastors do it! Difference of course is that Prods turn it over to the police and if the pastor is guilty the get sent to prison, not to another diocese.

4. It is teens that are molested, not small children. As if that is somehow more tolerable. < eyes rolling> Plus that is not true, but that is another story.

5. It is homosexual priests molesting boys. DO WHAT? First of 19% of the victims are girls. Second: Is it somehow less an offense to God that is is boys being molested? And lastly, who made these homosexual's priests in the first place? THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH DID!

And now we see another varient of number 2. Brazil is a sinful country so we should not be surprised when a priest goes down there and loses all control. It used to be that priests tried to save lost souls. Now they wallow in the sins of the lost.

It is all quite pathetic.
