At West Point, Obama talks up national security strategy ("international order we seek")
Washington Post ^ | May 22, 2010 | Michael D. Shear

Posted on 05/22/2010 10:06:09 AM PDT by SmartInsight

"The international order we seek is one that can resolve the challenges of our times,'" he said in prepared remarks. "Countering violent extremism and insurgency; stopping the spread of nuclear weapons and securing nuclear materials; combating a changing climate and sustaining global growth; helping countries feed themselves and care for their sick; preventing conflict and healing its wounds."

"Yes, we are clear-eyed about the shortfalls of our international system. But America has not succeeded by stepping outside the currents of international cooperation," he said. "We have succeeded by steering those currents in the direction of liberty and justice -- so nations thrive by meeting their responsibilities, and face consequences when they don't."

But he said civilians must answer the call of service as well, by securing America's economic future, educating its children and confronting the challenges of poverty and climate change. He said the country must always pursue what he called the "universal rights" rooted in the Constitution.

He seeks international order -- national security includes climate change -- it's all America's fault -- he still can't say "islamic terrorism"

Republicans better take over Congress in Nov 2010, if not, we won't have a country to take back in 2012, we will be ruled by the UN and fighting climate change will be more important than fighting militant islamic terrorists.

He really means America needs to be controlled by Internationalists.

We are already controlled by them already because of idiots watching TV. The 5 networks support Obama 100%.

An international order of leftism...

He’ll destroy what’s left of our Constitution and America to make it happen if he has to.

Starve the beast.

Participate in commerce as little as possible.

Earn as little and spend as little as necessary.

Do everything you can for yourself. Do as little as possible that is subject to taxation.

Sounds like a lot of Marxist psycho-babble in which the USA takes its place in the "international community of nations" and continues the Democrats version of the military with continued "meals on wheels" and "policemen" of the world.

The Democrats will continue to use the vast military budget for more of their failed social engineering experiments to attempt to achieve their version of utopia.

I listened to this speech and was acutely aware of any responses or reactions.

I came away feeling like there was enough America mingled with global citizenship that made the speech acceptable to the graduates.

If I had been sitting there I would have been put off by the Musollini, chin up/forward look and then calmed by the smatterings of American warrior hero accounts, only to have my suspicions raised when he talked of leaving Iran this summer.

I don't know what kind of controlled environment military academies have, but I couldn't help but think that these young men and women probably do not discuss ( perhaps are incapable of .. ) wold events and politics like we do here.

I have mixed feelings about what caliber of cadre was in charge of educating these young adults.

I really wish I didn't suspect less than honorable intentions with these graduates' training ... but I do.

Tried to watch it. Ended up cussing out loud. Had to shut it off or risk teaching the baby words I really don’t want her to know in a really LOUD and nearly hysterical way.
She was outside playing but I was SO LOUD! I scared myself.
Then I read it. Gritting my teeth and clenching my jaw and wondering when, oh Lord, this national nightmare will end ...and how.

Transcripts can be deceiving. How did the graduates of West Point (and the rest of the audience) respond to Dear Leader’s speech?

"Countering violent extremism and insurgency..."

This phrase - "violent extremism" will be used against "political enemies" before it's over - and that's us. These people see Tea Party members as extreme - this liberal language in waaaaay to inclusive.

We're fighting radical Muslims right now - not "extremism" what ever the hell that means to a liberal...

NY Times has an article on this also:

President Lays Out Security Strategy Based in Diplomacy

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/23/us/politics/23obama.html

Obama out and out lies, claiming credit for stopping the Christmas plane bomber and the NY Times square bomber, when in fact alert civilians stopped it. The bombs would have gone off, killing hundreds, if civilians hadn’t stopped them.

Here is what he said:

“Mr. Obama attributed the failures of an effort to blow up a passenger jet approaching Detroit in December and of a car intended to explode in Times Square this month to the intense pursuit of radical groups abroad. “These failed attacks show that pressure on networks like Al Qaeda is forcing them to rely on terrorists with less time and space to train,”he said.
