A huge wealth gap has opened up between black and white people in the US over the past quarter of a century – a difference sufficient to put two children through university – because of racial discrimination and economic policies that favour the affluent.
A typical white family is now five times richer than its African-American counterpart of the same class, according to a report released today by Brandeis University in Massachusetts.
White families typically have assets worth $100,000 (£69,000), up from $22,000 in the mid-1980s. African-American families' assets stand at just $5,000, up from around $2,000.
A quarter of black families have no assets at all. The study monitored more than 2,000 families since 1984.

Perhaps whites save more to aquire those assets and the other group doesn’t?
Moreover: long-term welfare is debilitating, leaving people without the will to work. I shudder to think what generational welfare does to people.

Just blame the progressives...it is their programs and wish to have classes of people oppressed, held back, and under their control.
Any group in this country can change their path they just have to stop drinking the kool-aid and be accountable and stop passing the buck for their own failures.
But the culture is deep-rooted. If you remember the comic strip “L”ll Abner” drawn by Al Caps. I thought it th wildest exaggeration until I took a road trip in 1960 to Oak Ridge, TN, looking at the site. Then I went straight west into the hills and, lo and behold, right along the side of the highway was a replica of the Yokum family cabin. The biggest change since is that those cabins have been replaced by”double-wides” and the average town has all the chains instead of the one “general store” of earlier generations. Even those who “escape” to th outside world do not get away from it all. I have a relative whose family still lives deep in the hills. She is bright, a scholarship student who met her husband in college. High native intelligence, but her world view is very narrow. Despite her escape, she has been crippled by her upbringing.
Not to mention the boom box disparity, hiphop disparity and language barriers.

When I worked in a steel shop, I noticed that many blacks and a few whites would hire in, would work hard for several months, aquire a stack of money, then quit and PARTY for several months. When they were broke, they would come back begging for a job again.
Where I last worked, mid life crisis hit many of the men there. they al went out and bought high dollar Harleys! They tried to get me to buy one and I refused! As a result I am retired comfortably and they are still having to work like dogs every day even though they are near retirement age. They also spent lots of money on other “toys”.

Barf! Blacks have tons of advantages whites do not: Laws requiring they be preferred in hiring, laws and university policies that favor them over whites in admissions, laws favoring them in government contracting, etc. Laws favoring them in home mortgages (CRA).
Why are blacks poorer than whites? It is simple: The liberals have sought to destroy any notion of self-sufficiency, individual effort, and delayed gratification among the black community.

One being that people would rather be Politically Correct than factually correct.
The other being this: the Dems WANT blacks to be poor, nay, they NEED blacks to be poor and they need to blame this poverty on whitey.
Black people don’t need a Boogeyman...they are quite capable of screwing up on their own and as soon as the world starts calling them on it, the sooner the repair can begin...

White people invest, blacks get grilles( for their teeth) and 10k rims on their cars.

That 70% out of wedlock birthrate, a Sao Paulo-like murder rate, and a near universal contempt for learning have nothing to do with it. Not a thing.
