LONG BEACH, Calif. (CBS) A vehicle allegedly used by suspects in a Laguna Hills bank robbery Thursday was the subject of a freeway pursuit to Long Beach, where an officer-involved shooting occurred, authorities said.
The chase began about 10:30 a.m. on the northbound 405 in Orange County, and went to the juncture of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, where the shooting happened, said California Highway Patrol Officer Gabe Montoya.
It was not immediately clear if any suspects were injured, Montoya said. No officers were hurt, he said.
After the shooting, the vehicle apparently continued northbound, possibly exiting around Woodruff Avenue, prompting closure of that offramp.
A Long Beach police SWAT team was assisting in the search for three suspects near Woodruff Avenue and Willow Street, Long Beach police Sgt. Dina Zapalski said.
The bank heist occurred at 10:14 a.m. at a bank at La Paz and Cabot roads, Montoya said.
Northbound 405 Freeway completely closed down in Long Beach; southbounbd shutdown at Bellflower Blvd.
What is the odds that these are undocs?
Must have heard about GAS’ “draconian” cuts being proposed tomorrow in the May revise and decided to beat the rush.
They usually are knocking off retail places.
Can’t remember when one ever hit a bank.
If these are illegals will LA boycott Mexico?
True.
Very true.
Far easier to hit a pawn shop or convenience store.
They might see a bank as actual work.
OK. You convinced me, these are likely to be white guys who are too greedy to go after the chump change of a c-store.
Hope they catch whoever it is and no one is hurt or killed.
great. like traffic is bad enough on the 405....
We had a cop shot here in Portland last night. The cops killed the shooter. Traffic stop gone bad.
It bugs me when cops act stupidly (the dog shooting, for instance), but I still respect police for the job they do, respect them greatly. Society is made immeasurably better by their dedication and bravery. They take risks every day, and deal with people every day that I never, ever have to deal with.
God bless all the brave officers, particularly the two who were shot in the last 24 hours in LA and Portland. May they both speedily recover.
Death to gansta scum!
