Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), our favorite cunning industrialist, is back in top form in Iron Man 2. Just when we think our government cant lean farther to the Left, Hollywood shows us at least they still know how to get it right on occasion. Now more than ever, the pro-free market, anti-government control concepts in Iron Man 2 are important in our contemporary culture.
The film begins six months later with the oily Senator Stern (Garry Shandling) demanding that Stark hand over his Iron Man weapon to the proper authorities (i.e. the government). Starks response is simple, you want my property you cant have it! The Iron Man suit may be a weapon but it is also a clear nuclear deterrent, as Stark defines it. The senator continues to categorize Iron Man out of context in order to push his regulatory agenda.
Iron Man 2 also continues to show the advantages of military innovation, however, the reactor that keeps Starks heart beating is now beginning to poison him so he must prepare the company for future success in case of his death. Desperate measures ensue after Stark gives up on trying to fix his heart problem and appoints Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) as CEO of the company. The government is not giving up on trying to once again gain control of national defense. Therefore, Stark wants to make sure he has someone he trusts at the helm of Stark Industries in the event of his untimely death.
The government is not the only problem; however, Hammer Industries flaky front man Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) exploits the governments interest in his company in order to plot against Starks reputation. The governments obsession with controlling Stark rendered them helpless to the villainous Russian Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) who was hired to...

Hope so, but Drudge had the first reviews as terrible.
>>Hope so, but Drudge had the first reviews as terrible.<<
It’s a conservative movie and you expect it to get good reviews?
I read the movie novelization and saw enough scenes to know, it’s actually giving to the fanboy base. It will make tons of money.
The Aviator was refreshing in that it also glorified white male capitalist, a real life one at that. Love the scene where Hughes tells off Hepburn’s silk stocking socialist family.
I thought the 1st one was better - but aren’t they all.....
Godfather II was better than the first one, I think.
I think the middle Spiderman movie was the best of those.
Doc Oc on the train rocked.
Bad reviews are expected if it is conservative
Go see it- support a conservative
stop seeing liberal bent movies and if you accidentally do see one WALK OUT! (loudly) and DEMAND YOUR MONEY BACK FOR BEING INSULTED (I have done this several times already)
OK, I give...Spidey 2 was better:)
Actually I liked Empire Strikes Back better, so my previous statement was bunk....
But I did like IronMan 1 better :)
Bill O Reilly has a cameo-shot of sorts in this movie (on a tv screen)
Godfather II worked better when Coppola recut it for TV and combined it with the first Godfather.
I didn't like ANY of those silly Hobbit movies, so I'm afraid I can't weigh in on their merits relative to eachother.
Medved gave it a good review.
Here’s a review from Rotten Tomatoes:
“...a Republican fantasy of big guns, cool gadgets, fast cars, non-threatening women to objectify and the corpses of Cold War bogeys propped up like ideological scarecrows.”
My kinda movie. Can’t wait to see it.
And Aliens is better than Alien
“And Aliens is better than Alien”
No way.
Man, I think that hits all the categories.
Shouldn’t we have a ping list for these?
I liked them all, personally. So did my (at that time 9-year-old) daughter. She said something that I remember strongly right after the second one came out: “Well, if you fight evil, at least if you lose, you don't have to live under it.”
She wants to be a Marine, now.
OS<—— Terrified, but proud!
Alien codified every sci-fi horror film since.
Just saw Iron Man 2....I grade it a B-
Really? I would give it an A-...very much enjoyed it.
