The police chiefs of Minneapolis and St. Paul say a proposed state immigration bill modeled after Arizona's law would cause mistrust and have a "chilling effect" in immigrant communities. In a news release issued today, Minneapolis Police Chief Tim Dolan, outgoing St. Paul Police Chief John Harrington and incoming St. Paul chief Tom Smith say that local law enforcement officers should not have to be the primary enforcers of federal immigration laws. The chiefs say such a law would instill a culture of fear in immigrant communities and prevent crime victims and those with information about crimes from coming forward.

The unions speaking through their “police chiefs”. The unions are counting on “amnesty” to get their numbers and union dues up.

Great news! If a sane President were in DC, Federal funding to ALL sanctuary cities would be stopped until they enforced immigration laws.

It might have a “chilling effect” on possible “Democratic” voters, lawn care, kitchen help, maids, and cheap labor.
But we’re always told our new immigrant friends are always the salt of the earth and violence-free...how is it they are always the ones police Chiefs here cite as the folks who are inexplicably linked to firsthand knowledge of crime and who is committing crime?
We would expect nothing less out of Minneapolis.
We don’t want to do our jobs, let us write tickets and raise city revenue...
Cops would rather profile white suburban commuters who won’t put up a physical fight or flee when pulled over for fines.
I was unaware that Minneapolous was located in Arizona. Man things change quickly with hope and change.
The police oppose it because if it passes, they might have to get off their doughnut eating a$$es and do some work. All those illegals mean a whole lot of extra paperwork, calling the INS, just a big bother...
These police chiefs must resign or be sacked if they are unwilling to do the bidding of the people.
Keep in mind the Chiefs of MPLS and St.Paul (not these same guys,but beholden to the same political whores)were also opposed to Minnesota getting “concealed carry” under the auspices that violent crime would increase and we’d have more ‘guns on the street’.
