The D.C. Council has passed a measure to legalize medical marijuana, sending the bill to Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty.
Under the measure passed Tuesday, the nations capital would join 14 states that allow medical marijuana.
Patients with chronic illnesses such as AIDS or cancer could obtain marijuana with a doctors recommendation. It would be given out at five to eight distribution centers.

“Medical marijuana”. I laugh my ass off every time I hear somebody mumble that bull****. What a load.

Their schools have been ever-failing, residents kill each other frequently, HIV is rampant, drugs are rampant, unwed mothering is common, the streets are ill-maintained, they have a financial scandal every month, the unemployment is very high, many citizens are on perpetual welfare and on and on and on. I’m glad the city council is focusing on priority issues. Why...just last month the council morons passed a plastic and paper bag tax of 5 cents per bag “to clean the Anacostia River. They have been spending millions every year to clean it. The city has been a dimocrat stronghold forever. This is America’s future!?

This is such a pantload. Not sure how bad this will affect DC, as it has enough addicts as it is.

I am wondering how DC can do this. They are under Federal law, so in effect they must overturn the Fed prohibition, without even the defense of state's rights. Can anyone explain this situation?
It seems that if 0babo and Holder give this a pass, they are in effect neutralizing all Federal enforcement of laws against MJ.

What are they going to do next for votes?
“Vote for me, and I’ll get you health care and all the sh!t you can smoke, man”
“Jobs? Uhh...here, just smoke this and shut up”.
To: 198ml
I wonder how far away we are from someone just flat out decriminalizing it.

Actually when the Feds proposed outlawing it in 1937, the American Medical Association was strongly opposed to the bill, and at the time they had 33 approved uses for the drug approved by the AMA.
So yes, it was an approved medical drug (mainly in liquid form) until the idiot Federal Government, still licking their wounds from losing Prohibition, outlawed it for very corrput reasons (industrial hemp was a threat to the oil and other industries). To this day the US is the only place on the planet where industrial hemp is still illegal.

I have no problem with it being prescribed in liquid or pill form but that’s not what this is all about. Like someone said above, this is about teenagers getting a “prescription” for happy smoke to fight pimples and toe jam.

While I understand that there are many behind this movement that are using it as an excuse to get high, I did have a friend with brain cancer (deceased now) that was prescribed Marinol for the nausea of chemotheraphy but could not ingest the pill after treatment (he just puked it up) so the only way he could get relief was to smoke it.
It boils my blood that he had to break the law to get the relief he needed, but some people are without a conscience. Their day will come.

14 states have passed similar legislation. Montana even accepts cards from other states.
Since DC is a one-off entity, I don’t know how they fit in legislatively. Obama has instructed the Feds to let the states have their way unless someone is making too much of a spectacle of themselves. The feds did bust one guy who had over 200 plants in his basement here in Colorado. He brought in a local TV station to show off, and bragged to the neighbors. There are twice as many pot stores in Denver as there are Starbucks.
What’s weird is almost all the card holders I know are boomer-aged self-made multi-millionaires. They think the whole thing is hysterical and have “tasting parties” like the wine snobs do.

To hell with reefer, I'm just looking for an MD that will write me a prescription for Lucky Strikes. Stress relief, ya know? And maybe then I can write off the taxes AND the product as a medical expense.
