Like I said, I don’t. But all others are fair game. OJ containers, liquid laundry detergent containers, gatorade bottles, peroxide bottles, car windshield washer fluid containers, heck, I got all kinds

And as long as you keep them out of sunlight and keep them from freezing, they are just about indestructible.

Any idea on the age of that water main? There are plenty more incidents like this waiting to happen as our infrastucture ages out.

They are frantically building an underground aqueduct from the Adirondacks to NYC to replace the one that is aging.

NYC could be completely out of water should the existing water tunnel.

I saw this on the History Channel several years ago.

Milk jugs are designed to be biodegradeable. Don’t store anything in them.

I found that out the hard way after I stored diluted bug spray in a milk jug in the garage over the winter.

Instead of spending ten billion on Teddy’s memorial tunnel to nowhere they should have spend a couple of bucks on upgrading their water supply infrastrucure.

That was my exact thought....

Well, those pipes were probably so old they were made from colonial-era logs.

I had to deal with the Mass Workers Retirement Assoc. when I was with Edison years ago. They couldn’t even read the meters correctly. We read all of the meters daily, in a Power Plant water usage is important and we had secondary metering, the numbers were never the same.

It should be a rule on FR that anyone who posts the lyrics to a song without giving the artists name and title of the song sit out for a week. :)

I'm hearing complaints about Algae in your stored drinking water? Here's how to prevent that. To start with, use a clean container. Fill with water to within an inch of the top, then add 2 (two) drops of Bleach per quart (that's 5.25% Sodium Hypochlorite on the label -- some will say 6% -- no other chemical ingredient is acceptable). Do NOT use the "new" Clorox-2 which contains Phosphorus, I believe. To continue, that's two drops of bleach to each quart of water and your worries about algae growth are over. Here's the little ditty I made up so people will remember:

Two drops per liter,
Two drops per quart,
Don't use less
And don't use more.

For larger quantities, even barrels, just figure how many quarts it contains and multiply by 2 drops per quart. I put water into 2-liter or 3-liter clear plastic soda containers ONLY that have been washed out 3 times to get the soda taste out. Cap 'em and label them with the month and year. Then dump the contents every year and refill.

When and if you go to use the water for drinking, pour the water back and forth between containers to re-aerate it, for slightly better taste.
Th-th-th-that's all, folks....

Wow. How Baghdad.

I have a helluva lot more empathy for the citizens of Baghdad than those of Boston.....seriesly.

I had a large helping of lima beans with lunch, so I'm prepared to fart in their general direction as I type this.
