Hang on. These guys are already being paid, right?

Where did the $53,000 go? An ad agency?

The Pride of the Fleet is You at YouTube

My favourite recruiting campaign for the Royal Australian Navy.

You'll be wet, you'll be homesick, and frightened...

What a jingle!

The article seems to imply this is the Australian Navy.

At least it's better than the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force recruiting dance... AKA Seaman Ship For Love! Seaman Ship For Peace!

... or even their standard recruiting commercial... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mb_Gux1ei5U

I stopped reading after "Desperate to attract new recruits..."

From the Navy website... FY09 Goals

Active duty enlisted - 35,500

Attained - 35,527 (100.1%)

Reserve enlisted - 7,743

Attained - 7,793 (100.6%)

Active duty officer - 2,202

Reserve officer - 1,198

Total Force Navy goal = 46,819

So, they are at (and have been at) 100%

As far as the add, well, I prefer seeing ships, boats, and airplanes (but that's the Navy Dad in me, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.)

.

DESPERATE to attract new recruits...

When women come in the men leave - a truth that has existed since time began.

Remember in the early 90's before women were on combat ships and they had to throw men out of the Navy?

>>> into human battleship ad

The money was wasted. That’s no battleship, battleships have gun turrets. I’d say that’s an oil tanker.

I’ve seen the Australian Navy in action, and its sailors are some of the best barroom fighters in the world.
