I do not think its a colony.

Is Guam, US Virgin Islands and such colonies?

Territories, as I understand it. As Hawaii, Alaska, Arizona, etc., were territories before becoming states.

Yes, well, ditto for them too.

On the other hand, the size of the population in Puerto Rico is so much larger than the Virgin Islands or Guam, that the issue of their status is more significant.

But essentially Guam and the Virgin Islands should be given the same choices.

Guam is a territory; likely Virgin Islands as well.
I’m not certain what territorial status means, in terms of degree of independence. When I lived in Guam (1952-54) the governor was appointed by Pres. of U.S.
