SAN FRANCISCO: The everyday boycotts
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 4/29/10 | Editor

San Francisco politicians went right to their favorite toolbox in reaction to Arizona's offensive and constitutionally suspect law to turn its police into immigration enforcers.

"Boycott Arizona!" was the thoroughly predictable City Hall reaction.

It's unlikely that lawmakers and businesses in the Grand Canyon State are going to be quaking in their boots at the prospect of lost business from indignant San Francisco liberals. And this boycott might end before it begins once the federal courts assess the constitutionality of singling out people for extra scrutiny on the basis of their appearance or language skills.

It's hard to get too upset about San Francisco politicians for seizing an opportunity to posture. It's what they do.

But the rapid-response treatment of an unjust Arizona law makes one think: It would be nice to see a similar sense of urgency about problems in San Francisco.

“Racial profiling crusade is the most successful gambit in decades to try and divert attention from perhaps the most intractable social problem we face, which is black on black crime and the anti-police activists are trying to make police racism an irrebutable presumption. Whenever law enforcement statistics show a high rate of minority stops and rests, but the police go where the crime is. The policing revolution of the ‘90s was to make policing data driven. The police aren’t looking for white or black, they’re looking for criminals and they go to the neighborhoods with the highest rates of crime, those tend to be minority neighborhoods.”

Believe me, people and business in Arizona will not forget what San Francisco is doing once this is all over with. San Francisco may regret what they are doing. Other states will keep them in mind also when they address their illegal immigrants.

I wish liberals everywhere would boycott the metropolitan area where I live. We don't need them.

Deport them from AZ to CA!

Considering it was barely a year ago that a juvenile illegal killed a father and two sons in San Francisco, and that the City’s absolutely ridiculous Sanctuary policy was one of the contributing factors to this animal being on the streets in the first place, maybe the Board of Stupidvisors should be thinking how their own citizens are viewing the Arizona law. Current poll shows that 70% of AMERICANS (not just Arizonians, mind you) are in favor of laws like the one Arizona just put on the books.

In San Franfreako, arrogance and self-importance know no bounds.

Go ahead, SF...test the hypothesis one more time. ‘Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.’

Northern Arizona is absolutely beautiful in summer. The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, The Painted Desert, The Petrified Forest. As well as Canyon De Chelly, Meteor Crater, Antelope Canyon and the nearby Pariah Wilderness. Close to Bryce Canyon and Zions National Park. Lot’s of mountain biking, some of the best fly fishing in the world at the Vermillion Cliffs. Come out for a visit, and piss off a liberal or two!

It gets hot here in Southern AZ in the summer. If SF, LA or San Diego boycott us, Northern AZ or Colorado is getting my money.

I like Rush’s idea — guides for illegals to exploit San Fran liberalism.

Please, please boycott Houston and surrounding areas.

Hey San Fran., I don't know how you can live with yourself, when your fellow San Franfreakians along with their unfortunate brothers, shamelessly called illegals, are forced to live in these states actively violating civil rights by asking for ID!

I call upon City Hall to move quickly to allocate funds for the removal of said unfortunates to bring them "home" to shelter in the bosom (oh gross) of their city falling into the bay. The time is now!
