FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Fort Worth police Officer Wesley Lamb is accused of smoking marijuana while on duty and in uniform.
Chief Jeff Halstead announced the arrest at a news conference Wednesday morning.
34-year-old Wesley Lamb was arrested Wednesday morning following a tip from a Fort Worth resident. He's accused of using and possessing marijuana while on duty.
Halstead announced the arrest to a group of new police recruits Wednesday morning. He made it clear that this behavior will not be tolerated. Halstead also told the rookies that he has created a special team of investigators to look into criminal mischief in the department.
This is not the first time recently that a Fort Worth officer has been in trouble. Officer Michael Buchanan is accused of crashing his pickup into a house while drunk last week.
Halstead also said he will soon start a top-down restructuring of the department to tackle internal problems such as this.

At Mari Gras I had a cop in uniform ask me for some weed. He had a cup of beer in his hand and was somewhat lit. I could not believe it. I looked him over and said, “Dude, you can’t fool me. I think you are a cop!”
He just laughed and went off to ask someone else for weed.
Police departments across this country have started to turn a blind eye to past drug convictions when they seek to fill their shortage of officers.
oh, I hope COPS was taping in Ft. Worth again this week...

Yep. Happens everyday with judges, lawyers, probation officers, prison guards, county commissioners, mayors and congressman, senators and probably the POTUS. But they all have an obvious interest in keeping the war on some drugs going. All those listed above do it on and/or off duty and if they don’t, they know someone close to them who does. But they don’t care as long as the gravy train keeps a rolling along.
Please, no lectures about the cop breaking the law and deserving to be beheaded.
Some cowboys need to take these dopers down to the stockyards and beat some sense into them.
