Ok, so apple slices, low fat milk and a small burger is now bad?
My nephews don’t get to eat at McDonald’s any more because it’s so disgusting, but their parents will buy the happy meal toy for them. They are pretty inexpensive.
Why should the Parents be responsible when the Government can come in and do it for them, for a small fee in taxes of course.

Darn tht pesky liberty.
I think obesity in the young has more to do with constant between meal snacking and lack of exercise than eating fast food. I ate lots of fast food as a kid but we didn’t constantly snack and spent most every non-school hour outside playing and body weight was not an issue at all. I’m not advocating a “fast food” diet, but let’s look at the big picture here.
But what about the cute, catchy name, Happy Meal? That migh entice kids to want one. BAN THE NAME HAPPY MEAL!
What about the pretty box it comes in, with all the pictures and puzzles on it? That might attract kids, too. BAN THE BOXES!
What about those little “playlands” that make the kids say “pllllleeeeeaassee can we go to the playland?” BAN THE PLAYLANDS!
What about the bright shiny golden arches on the building that kids recognize as a place they like to eat? BAN THE ARCHES!
Will they next ban toys from high-sugar breakfast cereal boxes?
I use to know one of the Santa Clara Supervisors. Unfortunately his term ran out last year. He may have been from Boston, but had served as the mayor of Milpitas locally several times before becoming a supervisor. I suspect he would have tried to put a stop to this nonsense. He didn’t seem to like government interventions into peoples private lives. (Even though he’s likely a registered democrat - he comes by it naturally being from Boston...)
This just goes along with the Bay area’s tendency toward liking the Nanny state approach to government. I also had the displeasure of dealing with Santa Clara County bureaucrats who were considering a tower ordinance that would have affected ham radio operators in county territory. They operate under the mis-apprehension that if they don’t allow it in their regulations - you can’t do it. So if they didn’t have a regulation allowing you to put up a tower - you can’t! If you wanted to get a new toilet in Santa Clara County - you needed a building permit!
Their ONLY redeeming value is that they are infinitely better than their next door neighbor - Santa Cruz county. After the Loma Preita quake in 89 - Santa Cruz took up to five years to give permission for people to rebuild their houses! Oh - and the building permit could cost you $25K!
The Bay Area is so much fun to live in... if this wasn’t the center of the Electronics industry (my source of employment...I would move immediately.)
One caller on a local talk show agreed with the proposal claiming now that Obama Care got passed he will be paying for those children’s healthcare. Hello nanny state.
Toys make kids fat!
*facepalm*
Why didn’t I think of that, what we need are low-calorie toys!
Oh please. More nanny-state nonesense.
Bloomberg is attempting to control salt consumption in NYC.
Given that Coumnty Supervisor Ken Yeager is an open homosexual, he is in no moral position to dictate to others about their allegedly unhealthy personal lifestyle choices.
These people won’t rest until every enjoyment is removed from our lives.
McDonalds is the training grounds for appropriate restaurant behavior.
Just have to start taking 2 year olds to fancy liberal hang-outs instead.
(And once a month is more than enough training, especially for mom =8-p)
