Adopt A FReeper
April 26, 2010 | jellybean

Posted on 04/26/2010 10:37:33 AM PDT by jellybean

Unlike the federal government, which has the power to steal money from you to pay for programs and policies that you don't support, Free Republic relies on the voluntary donations from it's members.

While there is already a large number of FReepers and lurkers who donate on a regular basis, either monthly, quarterly or a generous yearly donation, it's not enough to cover FR's operating expenses. There are also FReepers who would like to donate, but just don't have the resources because they are temporarily unemployed, living on a fixed income, have on-going medical expenses or other family obligations.

I will make a $25.00 donation on behalf of another FReeper who would like to give, but just can't right now. Are there any other FReepers out there who are willing to give just a little more? I'm asking you to step forward and commit to sending a small donation, $5, $10, $20 or more, in the name a fellow FReeper who doesn't have the funds right now.

What you can do:

If you have a few extra dollars, post your pledge here or put "Adopt a FReeper" in the comment box on donations page.

If you're a FReeper who would like to donate, but money is tight, please post here to let us know. You can also FReepmail me and I will try to match you with another FReeper who has indicated they are willing to send in a few extra dollars.

A message from FReepmail:

I would like to adopt a freeper with only one caveat, if thats allowed. I would like to adopt a serviceperson so they can continue to have a voice. Hubby is a disabled vet and I would like do do this in his honor. I would like to send 20$ for this person.
Are there any Military members who would like to be adopted?

Another request in FReepmail for a military member:
Please let me know in Freepmail if a military member might wish to be adopted.

Okay, you military members, you don't want me to call the 1st SGT and have him order you to step forward, do ya??

Leave it to a socialist to ignore the difference between consensual giving and having it taken from you, also known as “theft.”

Absolutely!

And I’ll tell you what. This is how it’s supposed to work. Charities donated by individuals, businesses and groups, NOT by handouts from the goobermint!

Talk about practicing what we preach! :o)

Soothsayer would like to be adopted.

Do we have any spare sponsors to assign to Soothsayer?

Thanks for the link. Things have never been this bad. I went thru my freezer yesterday and there is 1 pork roast, 1 beef roast, 6 chicken legs, and a cube steak pack. Oh, dear. My hubby will absolutely have a cow if i ask for help.
