I thought that our policy was to send the pirates back to Somalia, for ‘justice’ - yuck, yuck, yuck. Interesting when it’s Obama’s ships being attacked, we use a functional justice system...when it is Exxon’s ships, we laugh.
Can anyone please tell me why we are holding piracy trials here? Some one is shooting at you shoot the F back. Do we really need these guys in our prison system for life?

A better question might be why we even arrest these people. It should be pretty OBVIOUS by now that if you a see a Somali boat more than a few miles off the coast they’re likely not documenting the latest changes in the flora and fauna of the ocean floor. JUST SINK THEM. Why is this so hard for people in power to understand?

My thoughts exactly. They should have been blown out of the water the minute they opened fire on one of our ships. If we did that with some frequency, we might eliminate some of the Somali scum and curtail future attacks.

you minigun or vulcan their ‘ships’ till nothing moves. the problem is solved much quicker...and the properly ventilated remains of boat and pirate quickly sinks and is gone forever.
Not gone forever. The sunken hull will form an artificial reef, improving local fisheries and giving occupation to young men that won't cause them to go up against the world's best Navy.

Agreed, the indictment should have been by five inch naval gunfire.
