Mitt Romney is wading into the GOP governor's primary in Michigan, and he's backing Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.).

Hoekstra faces state Attorney General Mike Cox and businessman Rick Snyder in a pitched primary battle. Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D) is term-limited, and Democrats are waging their own primary battle.

Mitt was born here and for all his organizational strength here, he couldn't break 45% in the primary.

Mitt Romney supported Romneycare before he was against it nationally. Hoekstra was against the TARP before he was for it.

At least Romney won MA by 50% or more in 2008, which is something McCain couldn’t do in AZ. In fact, he was the only top tier candidate of either party who could not win his/her home state primary by 50% or more.

Nobody's running away with this. It's a 3 way race between Cox, Hoekstra, and liberal Rick Snyder. Bouchard and George are back in the pack.

Against the dems, all are leading, but I think Snyder will lose once more of his outsourcing jobs to China gets press. Michigan despises outsourcing. Dick DeVos lost in 2006 because of outsourcing jobs.
