Immigration reform, once considered dead for the year, has been thrown a lifeline by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., whose revival of the legislation could energize his state's Hispanic voters and help save himself from defeat in November.
Reid made a startling announcement earlier this month at an immigration rally held in downtown Las Vegas. He told the crowd of about 6,000 people that, despite a packed congressional agenda, he wanted Congress to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill this year.
"We're going to pass immigration reform, just as we passed health care reform," Reid said, adding that the looming confirmation process for a new Supreme Court justice to replace the retiring John Paul Stevens should not deter lawmakers.

what kind of desperation move will Reid make? He sold out his country ...whats left?
Reid is going to need these people to save his ass in November. Americans sure as hell aren’t going to vote for him.
Even with the legal ones, ethnicity trumps citizenship.
The only thing that should be left for the treasonous POS is a prison cell for life.
And most of them vote Democrat, the party of free stuff. 53% of immigrant families are on welfare. 34 percent of immigrants lack health insurance, compared to 13 percent of natives. Immigrants and their U.S.-born children account for 71 percent of the increase in the uninsured since 1989.
Milton Friedman said, You cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state. We are importing poverty to the tune of 1.2 million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS a year, most of whom are poor and uneducated. Amnesty.
Ping!
This man needs to be defeated. He had the gall to support a rally for Amnesty for Illegals on the very same day as the services for Rob Krentz. I have yet to hear a word about the Rob Krentz murder from Reid. He is willing to do more for citizens of other countries than for our own citizens. We do not need people like him representing us. Please Nevada, wake up and get rid of Reid.
Welcome to FR.
Too bad those amnesty supporters don’t remember what Harry Reid thought about them a few years ago.....
Harry Reid: illegal aliens free loaders and scam artists
OH! THE IRONY!
From John Lollipop..
Reid, now an impassioned champion of amnesty for 20 million illegal aliens in America, once called illegal aliens free loaders and scam artists which he proposed to deal with in his Immigration Stabilization Act in the United States Senate in 1993. That proposed legislation was introduced to the floor of the US Senate with the following press release, in part, issued by Reid’s office on August 5, 1993. “In response to increased terrorism and abuse of social programs by aliens, (I) today introduced the first and only comprehensive immigration reform bill in Congress. Currently, an alien living illegally in the United States often pays no taxes but receives unemployment, welfare, free medical care, and other federal benefits. Recent terrorist acts, including the World Trade Center bombing, have underscored the need to keep violent criminals out of the country.”

Thank you... I’ve been lurking and financially supporting FR for a bit over a decade ... when all there was as far as conservative voices was Rush and FR ... and Brain Terminal in 2000... I finally decided to join .. better late than never to any party :-)
I stand by my previous comment. Most hispanics support amnesty over the rule of law as it applies to immigration.
I know a lot of Hispanics who want the border shut down and illegals sent home. There is a growing anger among them toward Mexicans.
It is a shame. Illegal immigration is hurting all legally migrated people - in particular those of Hispanic origin.
It is creating an animosity toward all Hispanic looking people that I fully understand.
