Liu beholden to foreign law(This is immediate and unconditional disqualification for this man)

President Obama is trying to pack courts with far-left judges who are hiding their fringe opinions from the public and congressional oversight. Front and center is 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals nominee Goodwin Liu.

Just as now-Justice Sonia Sotomayor performed during her confirmation hearings, Mr. Liu did verbal backflips while trying to escape his own past writings and speeches during confirmation hearings on Friday. His rhetorical gymnastics and the worrisome substance he was trying to escape merit greater attention in coming weeks. For now, there is one subject area that does not allow shades of gray and on which his flips can't obfuscate his unacceptable views. That topic is the trendy leftist belief that foreign law should be consulted in interpreting the U.S. Constitution. It's a profoundly wrongheaded notion.

"The use of foreign authority in American constitutional law is a judicial practice that has been very controversial in recent years," Mr. Liu wrote in the Daito Law Review in 2006. "The U.S. Supreme Court has cited foreign authority in cases limiting the death penalty and invalidating criminal laws against homosexual sodomy, among others. The resistance to this practice is difficult for me to grasp, since the United States can hardly claim to have a monopoly on wise solutions to common legal problems faced by constitutional democracies around the world."

Federal Judges are requir3ed to take two oaths of office in being sworn in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oath_of_office

Both advocate support of the U.S. Constitution, and not some foreign entity.

This person, who has never been a judge, has never argued but a single case before an appellate court, is being considered not for a just federal judge, but an appellate court judge.

He clearly is not qualified for even consideration for such an esteemned position, as espoused by his core beliefs.

Don't worry. Such trivilialities didn't bother the GOP when some of them voted to confirm Sotomayor. I am sure they will roll over and vote to confirm this creep too.

Bork! Bork! Bork! It isn't just something the Swedish Chef says. Sadly, the GOP doesn't know what it means either.

The only foreign law that should be consulted in interpreting the U.S. Constitution or law is British law pre-1776 (or maybe pre-1787 if there were no relevant precedents earlier).

(But quite frankly, I wish the exception to the general rule that foreign law is irrelevant to American law would be used more vigorously: British common law usually shows a lot more wisdom than most of our legislatures and courts—the Brits themselves would do well to go back to it, things like “the castle doctrine” have their roots in common law.)

They need to attack this guy on his qualifications. He engaged in the actual practice of law for only two years. The rest of his career has been spent as a law clerk or an academic. He is not qualified to second-guess trial judges, most of whom spent many years in praactice before taking the bench. I doubt very much that Liu has ever tried a single case.

It sickens me that we can have someone on the Federal bench who simply ignores The Constitution.

No wonder Liu is massively hiding his background.

"the United States can hardly claim to have a monopoly on wise solutions"

We CAN and should claim monopoly on wise decisions. Many Americans harbored in the past and continue to have prejudices to various groups, but there has been not a single massacre or pogrom, which were quite common in Europe. We fought a Civil War of principles, not ethnic prejudices or ancient hatreds. For over a century America comes into play to end world wars that were started in the supposedly wise Europe.

This "jurist" is a product of the leftist propaganda promulgated ever since Wilson. And now this scum has the upper hand. Watch him being sworn in.

This guy tried to hide much of his background and then lied saying it was just an honest mistake.

Liu was not qualified to sit on a Circuit Court of Appeals even before the lying event, he should be filibustered.

I am sure they will roll over and vote to confirm this creep too.

Every Republican Senator, those Rinos included, they better be aware that a sleeping GIANT has been awaken and will no longer quietly tolerate any of that "go along, to get along..." nonsense any longer. If they don't stand firm, use every possible technique to delay and dissolve, and counter ever LIE and OMISSION, they will be removed from the privilege of representing Americans citizens in the US Senate.
