Opening arguments began Wednesday in the court-martial of a Navy SEAL accused in the abuse of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding the killings in 2004 of four U.S. private security contractors.
Petty Officer 1st Class Julio Huertas, wearing his blue Navy uniform, appeared in a military courtroom at the Victory Base Camp outside Baghdad to answer charges of dereliction of duty and impeding an official investigation. He has pleaded not guilty.

That these brave men have to go through this nonsense, makes my blood boil. It’s just not right. My prayers are with them.
The lawyers in the military have been screwing things up for years. Next on the agenda will be accusing combat troops in firefights of having shot an enemy combatant too many times.

This is shameful. These men perform their duty and some terrorist gets slapped in the face and opur Government recognises those charges. It’s a damned joke. Our Government is a damned joke.
If these men are convicted all Seals should ask to be transfered out and into the regular Navy. Do away with the program if they are going to be treated like this.
Putting SEALs on trial is sacrilege and I do not approve.
“When it absolutely, positively must be destroyed overnight, Navy SEALs”.
Just crazy.
This trial would never happen in the Israeli military. They just don’t prosecute their soldiers for following orders.
