April 19, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A must-read paper produced by Human Life International Research Director Brian Clowes has closed the book on the question of whether homosexuality in the priesthood is a root cause of the clerical sexual abuse crisis. Citing numerous research studies, Clowes demonstrates that homosexuality is strongly linked to sexual abuse of minors, and that celibacy is definitely not a cause of pedophilia.
Clowes cites studies, including:
- Homosexual Alfred Kinsey, the USA’s preeminent sexual researcher, found in 1948 that 37 percent of all male homosexuals admitted to having sex with children under 17 years old.
- A recent study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that "The best epidemiological evidence indicates that only 2.4% of men attracted to adults prefer men. In contrast, around 25-40% of men attracted to children prefer boys. Thus, the rate of homosexual attraction is 6-20 times higher among pedophiles."
- A study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that, "Pedophilia appears to have a greater than chance association with two other statistically infrequent phenomena. The first of these is homosexuality ... Recent surveys estimate the prevalence of homosexuality, among men attracted to adults, in the neighborhood of 2%. In contrast, the prevalence of homosexuality among pedophiles may be as high as 30-40%."
- A study in the Journal of Sex Research noted that "... the proportion of sex offenders against male children among homosexual men is substantially larger than the proportion of sex offenders against female children among heterosexual men ... the development of pedophilia is more closely linked with homosexuality than with heterosexuality."
- A study of 229 convicted child molesters published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that “eighty-six percent of [sexual] offenders against males described themselves as homosexual or bisexual.”

Abstract: Due to clergy sex abuse scandals centered primarily in the Northern hemisphere, the moral authority of the Roman Catholic Church has been subjected to an opportunistic siege by prominent individuals and organizations who see the chance to advance their goals, including the ordination of women and the suspension of the requirement for priestly celibacy.
There is also a strongly defensive element to this strategy. Opponents of the Church know that there is a well-documented and strong correlation between male homosexuality and child sexual abuse, but claim that there is no evidence supporting this connection. And, of course, those who are currently attacking the Church hope that they can undermine its moral authority to preach on the sinfulness of homosexual behavior and weaken its opposition to ersatz homosexual “marriage.”
This paper demonstrates that there is indeed a very strong link between male homosexuality and child sexual abuse. It also shows that there is a similar rate of child sexual abuse among other very large groups of adult males (e.g., Protestant clergy, who are usually married), thus proving that celibacy is not the root of the problem - homosexuality is.

The questionable methodology and ethics of the Kinsey bunch should leave them out of any survey that people expect to take seriously. Unless the purpose of the survey is to show how twisted Kinsey and company were.

If we look to extreme cases like the way the Taliban treat their ladies lest a male without self control should see, be aroused, and anger Allah, the answer could be maybe (just ask their goats, or women who have been whipped for unintentional lapses). Modesty as the Christianized western world has practiced it appears to be a model of virtue.
A dying priest once shocked me with a passing statement something like; "We're just uptown carnival workers, so what if we took a few rides."
That was my first thought, too. My second thought was that the left cites Kinsey’s garbage for all kinds of things, so they will have a hard time attacking his credibility even if they can succeed in falsely attacking the other studies. Therefore, citing Kinsey actually makes sense in this rare context.
I would also say that
sex abuse is “at the root of” most homosexuality.
BTW: This wasn't just a problem in the northern hemisphere, as there were similar occurrences in Brazil, Peru, and Mexico, amongst other countries.

Exactly.
It is also the root of most sexual disorders. Rapist report being abused more than the general population. Sex workers, prostitutes and strippers were more likely to have been sexually abused also. I know all are inconvienent ideas.
I know two guys who were molested as children who sometime after highschool began to identify themselves as homosexual. One was abused by his uncle a “flaming homosexual” who also turned out to be the town arsonist. The other a black man went on to abuse two other boys and groomed them with drugs and alcohol. He was murdered by those boys when they got older.
This correlation will never be allowed to be made public,
because it shows that homosexuality is indeed a
DISORDER
and not “normal” or “natural”, nor are homos “born that way”.

It is a reasonable assumption that a culture that had a truly patholical hatred or fear of normal sexual expression would be unable to persist for many generations. Whatever happened to the Bogomils?
