Tea Party Movement Spreads To Military

"Tea Party Movement Spreads To Military

The Tea Party movement has gained a foothold in the armed forces.

A new Tea Party group, Armed Forces Tea Party Patriots, has grown quickly since being launched last month by an active duty Marine Corps sergeant. The group, which vows to "stand up on the very soil we defended to preserve common sense conservatism and defend our Constitution that is threatened by a tyrannical government," currently has over 400 members, who have signed up through its Facebook page, though many are not active duty military. And it has close ties to the broader Tea Party movement.

"People in the military need to be heard," the group's prime organizer, Gary Stein -- a Marine Corps sergeant stationed at Camp Pendleton in southern California -- told TPMmuckraker in an interview. "Our opinions do count."

Many people in the military "feel like they can't speak out against Obama or Congress," said Stein. "The armed forces should have a little bit more say than we think we do," he said.

Stein said he had served in the Marine Corps for seven years, including service in Iraq. He described himself as a "strong conservative" who had found himself disillusioned with the GOP. Stein formed the new group, he said, after finding like-minded cohorts on his base, then co-ordinating with a friend who's active in a local southern California Tea Party chapter.

[snip]

In promoting the Armed Forces Tea Party Patriots, Stein has raised the possibility of disobeying presidential orders. In one recent online posting, he wrote:

My oath was to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and that oath will be kept. I won't "Just follow" orders. There is at this time a debate within the ranks of the military regarding their oath. Some mistakenly believe they must follow any order the President issues. But many others do understand that their loyalty is to the Constitution and to the people...
That declaration echoes one made by the Oath Keepers, a group of current and former military and law enforcement personnel who havevowed not to follow orders deemed to be unconstitutional -- including any orders to disarm Americans. Stein agreed that the two groups are kindred spirits. "I think we're very like-minded with the Oathkeepers," he said. "I strongly support the Oathkeepers."

Stein's political activism seems to have raised some concern among his superiors. Late last month, he wrote online: "Was just told by a Marine Corps Officer to watch what I say about Obama... I think not..." And later that same day: "I was just told to keep my opinons (sic) to myself about Obama, by my Officer-in-Charge (OIC)."

[snip]

This isn't the first time that anti-Obama sentiment has surfaced within the military. Several active duty service members have challenged their orders to deploy overseas, on the grounds that President Obama was not born in the U.S. and his orders are therefore illegitimate.

[snip]

Late Update (4/13/10): Stein says in a statement that his group doesn't support a military uprising, views President Obama as the legitimate commander-in-chief, and will follow all constitutional orders."

How can a USURPER command our armed forces?
How can a USURPER sign any treaties with foreign governments?
How can a USURPER sign anything into law, let alone the health care monstrosity?

HOW CAN A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN'S STATUS BE "GOVERNED" BY GREAT BRITAIN?

“When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children.
http://fightthesmears.com/articles/5/birthcertificate.html

Factcheck.org goes on to say this about Obama Sr., Jr. and the British Nationality Act of 1948:

In other words, at the time of his birth, Barack Obama Jr. was both a U.S. citizen (by virtue of being born in Hawaii) and a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (or the UKC) by virtue of being born to a father who was a citizen of the UKC.
http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/does_barack_obama_have_kenyan_citizenship.html

Even the modern day State Department rules discusses the problems associated with dual citizenship:

7 FAM 081: U.S. Policy on Dual Nationality:

(e)While recognizing the existence of dual nationality, the U.S. Government does not encourage it as a matter of policy because of the problems it may cause. Dual nationality may hamper efforts by the U.S. Government to provide diplomatic and consular protection to individuals overseas. When a U.S. citizen is in the other country of their dual nationality, that country has a predominant claim on the person.

...

the U.S. Supreme Court has stated that dual nationality is a "status long recognized in the law" and that "a person may have and exercise rights of nationality in two countries and be subject to the responsibilities of both." See Kawakita v. United States, 343 U.S. 717 (1952).

http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/86563.pdf

So, back to the question: "HOW CAN A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN'S STATUS BE "GOVERNED" BY GREAT BRITAIN?"
It can't. Of course not. Yet, right there, on his campaign web site F.T.S., it's stated that a foreign government "governed" Barry from birth and the reason it did, was that Barry inherited that foreign citizenship by way of his foreign national father (no matter where he was born), a fact backed up by Factcheck.org. Assuming, of course, that Sr. was his legal father at birth.
How, then, could he possibly be a "Natural Born Citizen" of the U.S.?
Barry Soetoro, the divided citizen at birth!

http://www.jeffersonsrebels.blogspot.com

Furthermore:  Hawaii's Territorial Law, Chapter 57 - "VITAL STATISTICS, I", shown beginning pg 23 of 29, (the law in effect in 1961) allowed baby's born anywhere in the world to be eligible to apply for a Hawaiian birth certificate based on the word of 1 relative.

Bottom line: Even IF (big IF) he was born in HI, he inherited his father's foreign citizenship as well, making him a US citizen by US law and the subject of the crown of her majesty the Queen of England by inheritance and England's law. He could not be considered a Natural Born Citizen as known by and as intended by the framers.

Were I still in, no liberal would stand a chance of getting promoted.

Really.

Liberalism is treason.

Period.

Even though I LOVE the Tea Party movement, I don’t like the idea of political activism within the active duty military.

Just my .2

Then why aren't these people speaking out for Col. Lakin, who is about to be court martialed for asking for obama's proof of birth?

I'd like to see about half of the officers in the military threaten to resign if Lakin is court martialed and drummed out of the service.

I share this discomfort. The instant case may be good, but what might follow...

Thanks for the wake-up call.

Am I glad members of the military are strong Constitutionalists. Absolutely. I do want to offer up a word of caution here though.

Word of mouth support for Conservative principles is good, but I would not want the ranks to become as polarized as the general public. It is best to keep on the record organized politics out of the armed forces.

"Even though I LOVE the Tea Party movement, I don’t like the idea of political activism within the active duty military."

Do you believe it's wrong for active duty military members to participate in the political process? Are they not citizens of the country as well (majority of them anyway)?

Do you, then, believe that active duty members of the military should not be involved with the "oath keepers" organization?

I understand why you'd be wary of that, but you have to remember that if there is a question of members of our government, including the president, subverting the US Constitution, that puts the military squarely in the heart of the matter. Each member swears an oath to defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. They do not swear allegiance to the Congress or the president, himself. It is not as if this is political activism in the sense of promoting one party's platform versus another (except to the extent that one party has become anti-Constitution). This is merely military people recognizing that upholding their oath may require action on the domestic front. These military members are not setting aside their oath to become political - they are resolving to honor the oath they took with the understanding that politics may pressure them not to. Big, big difference.

The govt is filled with Muslim Brotherhood moles aka Saudi Arabia. I would be military intel is being leaked back to Al Qeada and the Taliban to kill our soldiers. In addition, they cannot shoot back. Iraq and Afghnaistan now are just a meat grinder to kill our troops and humiliate them. The Saudis are behind this.

Something doesn’t smell right about this. I thought it was strictly verboten for active duty military to be politically active or vocal on issues. They need all the focus on the job at hand.

"What’s the law regarding conspiring to disobey orders?"

Who's conspiring to disobey orders, and "who's" orders would they disobey?
